About The Position

The Disability Account Specialist provides efficient management and release of protected health information (PHI) to healthcare facilities. The role evaluates medical records and completes requested disability paperwork, serving as a direct contact for patients and medical facilities and providing documentation needed to support short- and long-term work leave.

Responsibilities

Act as a main contact for communicating and collaborating with assigned accounts.
Review and verify FMLA and disability forms for validity and compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable requirements.
Verify patient information in assigned accounts’ EMR systems using key patient identifiers to ensure records match the correct patient and requested scope.
Confirm request information and request additional documentation from patients or requesters to process pending forms.
Retrieve and complete forms accurately and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
Follow workflows specific to assigned accounts.
Provide and log detailed, accurate information for each processed form in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Update and maintain an accurate Accounting of Disclosures for activities and processes associated with form completion.
Provide customer service to patients and clients while protecting patient privacy.
Handle high call volumes while maintaining service and professionalism.
Meet established production and quality goals while managing accounts within established turnaround times.
