About The Position

SygtStærk is seeking a director to lead and develop a newly established organization with significant potential to create positive change for young people living with chronic or severe physical illness. The organization is looking for an entrepreneurial leader to drive the development of initiatives alongside a secretariat, a dedicated board, and an engaged group of young people with chronic illnesses. SygtStærk is a mobilizing and transforming community for young people aged 13-24 living with chronic or severe physical illness. The community currently consists of group courses, a storytelling corps, events, and a digital community. The voices, ideas, and perspectives of the young people are the foundation for SygtStærk's initiatives and the organization itself. SygtStærk started in May 2023 as a signature project under the Egmont Foundation and became an independent organization in August 2025. The mission is to run a mobilizing and transforming community for young people aged 13-24 living with chronic or severe illness, encouraging courage and action regarding life management and education. Additionally, SygtStærk aims to create insights into life as a young person with a chronic or severe illness and give a voice to young people with illness experience. SygtStærk is a budding organization with the potential to create a sustainable and youth-driven organization where young people co-create initiatives and activities. The organization is now looking to further develop initiatives, expand the community, and ensure stable operations. They are seeking an entrepreneurial and action-oriented director who can seize the potential and elevate SygtStærk to the next level. The organization is in an exciting development phase, working purposefully to anchor a robust structure geared towards developing the organization and initiatives together with the young people in SygtStærk.

Requirements

  • Ability to work closely with young people and let their experiences shape the solutions. Focus on developing with the young people, not for them.
  • Leadership experience, including personnel management and experience in creating a healthy, inspiring, and entrepreneurial work environment.
  • Documented experience in developing, testing, and implementing initiatives and concepts within the welfare sector.
  • Strategic and structured work approach, combined with a curious and entrepreneurial approach to new opportunities and collaborations.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in developing sustainable initiatives, including through partnerships, financing, and scaling of initiatives.
  • Awareness of resources and prioritization, and experience with financial management and close collaboration with a board.
  • Strong network that can contribute to recruiting young people, or the ability to create such a network.
  • Experience with foundation collaboration and establishing partnerships across regions and municipalities.
  • Strategic and structured approach to work, combined with a curious and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Good communication skills, both internally and externally. Ability to motivate and drive followership and create trusting relationships across organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop SygtStærk towards becoming an independent, sustainable, and strong organization.
  • Collaborate closely with the young people, including the youth committee and SygtStærk's volunteers, on the development of new activities and programs.
  • Establish and nurture strong collaborative relationships with foundations, regions, municipalities, and other relevant actors.
  • Further develop core activities (group courses, events, digital community, and storytelling corps).
  • Ensure solid financial management and strategic business development.
  • Profile SygtStærk externally and communicate our vision and results to relevant stakeholders.
