About The Position

Our Global Medical Products & Distribution business segment is currently looking for a Director of Warehouse Operations (DO) to lead and support the day-to-day operations for our Medical Distribution Center located in our Walton Hills Distribution Center located in Cleveland, Ohio. This leader will have financial and operational responsibility for a 248,640 square foot Distribution Center. This Distribution Center services hospitals and surgery centers in Northeast Ohio. The successful candidate will have direct/indirect responsibility for over 130 Distribution employees, as well as oversight and dotted-line responsibility for the Penske-managed private fleet, which totals 2 leaders and 21 drivers, along with associated equipment. Sales and pick volume out of the Walton Hills facility are more than $261M and 4 million picks annually.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
Proven leadership capabilities, including ability to manage diverse personalities/skill sets in a changing environment.
Experienced site leader who enjoys being visible & engaged.
Strong ability to lead, motivate, develop, and manage teams, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
Exhibits deep customer focus through a history of successful, high-impact customer engagements, cultivating long-standing relationships, and being recognized as a go-to leader for resolving critical customer concerns.
Hands-on experience overseeing daily warehouse operations including inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping/receiving, and labor planning.
In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations, safety programs, quality and compliance standards.
Experience with budgeting, cost control, and managing P&L.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and strategic planning skills to resolve complex issues and improve processes.
Communication: Strong presentation skills, verbal and written communication, including active listening, for onsite briefings and conflict resolution.
Ability to lead change, drive continuous improvement, and implement process efficiencies (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).
Experience with warehouse automation and material handling systems.
Critical Thinking & Decision-Making: Ability to make sound, objective decisions in high-pressure situations.
Organization: Ability to manage workflows, schedules, and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

Directs daily activities including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and shipping to maximize space and efficiency.
Develops and implements warehouse strategies, including continues improvement, workflow design, and technology adoption to improve productivity.
Recruits, trains, manages, and mentors warehouse managers, supervisors, and staff, fostering a culture of accountability.
Optimize efficiency, safety, and quality. Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, sanitation standards, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure employees have access to safe, reliable, and efficient equipment to perform distribution functions; implement programs, policies, and strategies to improve productivity and optimize space utilization.
Owns site P&L. Develops operating budgets, manages labor costs, controls expenses, and prepares reports for senior management.
Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate performance and implement improvements.
Leading, mentoring, and developing warehouse teams to adopt a mindset of continuous improvement and safety. Continuously identify and implement opportunities to improve facility operations through established standards, innovation, and creative problem‑solving while effectively managing multiple competing priorities.
Acts as a primary point of contact for the customer ensuring high-level responsiveness and building trust. Ensures all logistics activities, such as packaging or special project handling, meet or exceed contractual obligations. Beyond managing complaints, leaders must nurture key customer relationships, acting as the customer's advocate internally and fostering long-term trust.
Bridge gaps between departments (e.g., sales, marketing, product) to ensure consistent, efficient execution of projects.
