About The Position

The Director, Walmart Energy, provides strategic leadership to optimize energy management and reduce utility expenses across the assigned region. This role involves developing and implementing energy-saving initiatives, analyzing costs and forecasts, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external agencies to advance renewable energy and sustainability goals while managing operational processes and resource allocation. The Director fosters continuous improvement, supports workforce development, and drives initiatives that align with Walmart’s commitment to integrity, efficiency, and long-term business success. The Onsite Energy Solution team advances Walmart’s Supply Chain strategy by delivering cost-effective energy solutions that enhance resiliency and optimize expenses. Leading large-scale projects and integrating advanced technologies, the team collaborates with senior leadership to implement strategic business improvements. Focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement, the team supports sustainable growth and cost optimization while upholding high standards of integrity and compliance. Their efforts strengthen energy resilience and efficiency across operations, driving impactful results through strategic planning and effective energy management aligned with Walmart’s goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field and 5 years’ experience in utility operations or related area OR 7 years’ experience in utility operations or related area.
  • 1 year’s supervisory experience.
  • Extensive experience in renewable energy and energy management, including directing energy saving programs and sustainability strategies.
  • Proven ability to analyze energy consumption data, forecast costs, and develop budgets to maximize return on investment.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and regulatory processes related to energy and sustainability, with experience in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in managing energy management systems and electrical engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing talent, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement aligned with business objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Certified Energy Manager or equivalent credential preferred.
  • Certified Energy Manager, experience in building systems design, controls, or operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive energy strategies to reduce utility expenses and enhance sustainability initiatives across the region.
  • Lead energy saving programs by analyzing costs, forecasting savings, and preparing proposals to optimize return on investment.
  • Oversee compliance with energy-related legislation and regulations, coordinating with legal and technical experts to represent company interests.
  • Manage energy consumption data during facility planning and construction to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Identify and secure energy credits, rebates, and incentives while monitoring utility rates and billing accuracy.
  • Foster partnerships with internal teams and external agencies to support energy management goals and community engagement.
