About The Position

As the Director of Third Party Risk Oversight Operations, you will lead our efforts in managing third-party risk and ensuring governance, oversight and compliance with US region's risk posture and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for operationalization of controls processes to align with the bank's risk governance frameworks, policy and procedure that align with CIBC's strategic objectives. Your expertise in risk management will help us identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with third-party relationships, ensuring that our business operations remain secure and compliant. Part of your role will also involve oversight coordination and governance to services that are provided by the Enterprise to the region or by other regions of the bank as a service consumer. The role drives innovation across all areas of responsibility, applying expert interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to lead the alignment of technology best practices and application strategies to help respective business lines achieve their targeted goals. The Director, U.S. Third Party Risk is a seasoned professional responsible for leading a team to create and implement a third party management framework to help manage vendor relationships consistently and effectively. The role recommends policy, procedure, control and processes related modifications, communicating regularly with vendor relationship managers to create an active and positive relationships with all internal third party stakeholders and vendor partners. The Director, Third Party Risk exercises a high degree of independent judgement, staying well informed of the terms of relevant vendor contracts regarding reporting obligations, financial implications, terms for breach, escalation procedures, and change management. The role drives innovation across all areas of responsibility, applying expert interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to lead the alignment of technology best practices and application strategies to help respective business lines achieve their targeted goals.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of direct/related third party risk assessment, management experience, technology, cybersecurity operations and governance oversight.
  • Strategic comprehensive leader with a background in governance, risk or controls.
  • Exceptionally strong influencing skills sufficient to significantly promote and/or negotiate on behalf of CIBC in situations that involve recognizing and responding to underlying concerns where others need to be persuaded to accept compromise solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner through both written and verbal communications.
  • Experience leading high performing teams and a passion for driving program evolution and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills to creatively develop unique approaches and solutions that are necessary to address complex problems.
  • Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s) and, where applicable, must have a valid work or study permit.
