About The Position

This role serves as a strategic and operational partner to the Senior Division Director, Office of the Executive Vice President (OEVP). The Director leads NYU Langone Health's engagement with the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance, seamless meeting execution, and a high-touch experience for its highest-level volunteers. The Director also supports the institution's advisory board strategy, acting as the central point of coordination for volunteer leadership opportunities across the department. This position partners with internal leaders who manage various advisory boards, offering operational support and execution as needed. The position manages the Assistant Manager of Trustee Administration and works closely with senior leadership, Trustees, advisory board members, and internal partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3 years of management experience
  • 9 to 10+ years of relevant experience in board relations, governance, development, institutional administration, or a related field, preferably in an academic medical center, university, or similarly complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of board governance and Trustee engagement best practices.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Exceptional organizational, writing, communication, and relationship-management skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior leaders, Trustees, and cross-functional partners.
  • Experience with CRM/development databases and Microsoft 365.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and perform in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.
  • Possesses the presence, inclusiveness, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.
  • History of developing and enhancing relationships through authenticity, professionalism, and trust.
  • Ability to take ownership of opportunities, challenges, and decisions to drive work and organization forward.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Trustee records, giving processes, acknowledgements, and related administrative workflows.
  • Ensure Trustee information is accurate, confidential, and well maintained.
  • Develop stewardship strategies that keep Trustees informed, engaged, and connected to NYU Langone's impact.
  • Coordinate tailored communications, briefings, events, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Serve as the key Development lead on the end-to-end planning and execution of Board of Trustees and assigned Committee meetings, including establishing annual calendars, managing logistics, driving agenda and content development, coordinating preparation and distribution of materials, supporting meeting facilitation, and refining processes.
  • Support operations for advisory boards across the Development department, including tracking, monitoring, evaluating, providing operational and execution support for meetings and events, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Help identify and track prospective Trustees in partnership with leadership and development colleagues.
  • Support recruitment strategy through research, prospect materials, and cultivation planning.
  • Lead onboarding for new Trustees, including orientation, materials, and integration into Board and committee service.
  • Support ongoing Trustee education regarding governance roles and institutional priorities.
  • Collaborate across various departments to ensure a coordinated approach to Trustee and advisory board engagement.
  • Serve as a resource on governance, Trustee relations, and board best practices.
  • Improve systems, processes, and tools that support high-quality execution and a strong volunteer leader experience.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
