About The Position

This position is responsible for providing safe and reliable high voltage electrical service throughout the ComEd Transmission Service Territory which contains 5400 circuit miles of high voltage lines that are 69kV and above. This position also is responsible and accountable for the T&S Service Organization that provides the support function to the ComEd Transmission and Distribution Organizations. This position is responsible for customer satisfaction related to service, quality, reliability, workmanship, and overall responsiveness for the following customers: distribution, generation, interconnects, and large manufactures. Oversees the design, construction, maintenance, and field operation of the electric transmission and distribution systems. Directs and participates in the formulation of regional strategic objectives, budgets and capital expenditures, expense authorizations and management of employee activities. Manages and directs the coordination and execution of the Transmission Construction and Maintenance work plan. Develops and implements effective strategic and tactical business and labor initiatives that are linked to business goals and objectives. Develops and maintains an environment that promotes employee safety, diversity and high productivity. Departmental activities include the planning, scheduling and the execution of engineering, construction, maintenance, and emergent response of high voltage transmission lines and associated components for transmission overhead and underground lines. Manages and directs the T&S Service Organization which provides the ComEd Transmission and Distribution Organization with a support function that performs corrective and preventive maintenance and operating activities on specialized equipment, such as generators, oil processing units, emergency portable equipment, and portable substations. Assembled and maintain the spare transformers assets of large substation transformers. Oversees the operation of the Chemical Laboratory operations, which provides laboratory testing and services on hydraulic fluids. Directs and manages a diverse staff of employees (management and craft) and contractors that are mostly represented through a collective bargaining agreement. Overall responsible for employee development, safety, reliability, customer satisfaction, and financial results. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 12 years of industry experience, including at least 5 years in an electric T&D supervisory and/or managerial position.
  • In lieu of degree, 15-20 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated knowledge of T&D operating, maintenance & construction work practices, utility collective bargaining agreements and understanding of regulatory issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build consensus, establish trust, and foster culture change.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and enforce safe work behaviors; this requires working knowledge of safety rules and work practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
  • Electric industry background in the construction, maintenance and troubleshooting of transmission & substation equipment and systems.
  • Professional Engineer's license.
  • In-depth technical understanding of transmission and substation components and system protection devices and schemes.
  • Familiarity with the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a high-performance culture, including coaching and facilitating business competency and performance management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
  • Demonstrated business and utility financial acumen, customer awareness, and ability to create value.

Responsibilities

  • Drives and oversees the development and implementation of short and long term strategic and tactical business and labor initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelon's and ComEd's safety, reliability and performance goals.
  • Assures timely response to storms and other system emergencies.
  • Manage the overall Transmission Service budget including contractor expenditures.
  • Monitor, influence and re-direct capital and O&M expenses to assure budget compliance while achieving business goals and objectives.
  • Consistent with annual Utility/Department/Region scorecard metrics.
  • Manages the regional budget.
  • Establishes and monitors business plans and business unit objectives.
  • Balances cost control with appropriate capital and maintenance investments.
  • Develops and maintains an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization.
  • Leads the management team in promoting diversity.
  • Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered.

Benefits

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $188,000.00/Yr. – $258,500.00/Yr. plus an additional $50K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually
