Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule, working in office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays if work permits. Position Overview The Director, Thermal Asset Management is responsible for a wide range of activities all directed toward the same goal: maximizing the profitability of the assets. As Director, you will work closely with external stakeholders and cross-functionally with many other internal teams, including Portfolio Finance, Accounting, Performance Engineering, Government and Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, and Operations and Maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Economics) and coursework in Finance or Accounting
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar function and industry, including but not limited to finance, accounting, FP&A, commercial management, project management, and consulting in industries such as energy, utilities, construction, manufacturing and real estate required.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and demonstrated proficiency in Excel
  • Experience writing, negotiating, and managing contracts
  • Experience creating and managing budgets and performing financial modeling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Some travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of asset managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Manage a portfolio of thermal assets, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight for assets managed by direct reports
  • Manage lender relationships for thermal projects in conjunction with the Portfolio Finance team
  • Prepare annual project budgets and financial forecasts and cash flow models
  • Perform variance analysis of project performance and operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all project contractual documents, including long term power purchase agreements, power price hedges, and large generator interconnection agreements
  • Procure parts, materials, and services and support resolution of technical issues
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with local, county, and state authorities
  • With Government and Regulatory Affairs, participate in legislative and regulatory processes to preserve and create value
  • Negotiate contractual agreements with vendors and service providers for operational assets in order to minimize total operating cost
  • Assist in ongoing development efforts for thermal projects
  • Seek and execute opportunities to increase the value of the asset
  • Provide input to and review asset bidding and scheduling and support development of commercial contracts
  • Develop long term asset planning strategy to optimize economics and performance of assets over entire life-cycle
