The Director of Tech Operations leads the E-commerce Fulfillment Strategy & Execution team (multiple direct reports) with responsibility to deliver enterprise-level strategies and mechanisms that drive Walmart’s fulfillment objectives. This role operates at the intersection of strategy, technology, and execution, ensuring that fulfillment experiences keep pace with customer expectations and business growth. Scope & Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Owns the design and execution of fulfillment strategies that directly impact sales conversion, speed promises, and customer satisfaction across e-commerce. Cross-Functional Influence: Partners with Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Technology leadership to align on initiatives such as DSV to 1P/WFS migration, national assortment management, pre-orders, and critical sales events (e.g., BTS, AE). Governance & Network Optimization: Oversees fulfillment governance forums to ensure end-to-end visibility, simulation, and alignment on actions that may shift volume across the network. Technology Enablement: Defines technology requirements and partners with ecom, site experience and merchants to deliver against new fulfillment experiences that expand customer choice (e.g., bulk purchases, “dinner tonight,” subscriptions). Impact: Enterprise Impact: The role influences fulfillment capabilities that touch billions in annual GMV, directly shaping the speed and reliability of Walmart’s digital experience. Organizational Leadership: Leads a high-performing team while also orchestrating alignment across multiple business units and functions. Strategic Complexity: Balances near-term execution (e.g., event readiness) with long-term network and technology strategies.
