About The Position

To oversee strategic application or software development engineering function and initiatives, focusing on designing, developing, and optimizing software applications. The Director provides leadership and direction through team and is accountable for the performance and results of related teams and/or functions. Supports executive leadership in defining organizational goals and strategic plans and translates strategic vision into policies and operational plans for a broad functional area. Serve as a subject matter expert on Core Banking and associated products, platforms, systems, policies, and procedures. Lead the strategy, implementation and delivery of our Core Banking modernization program with a specific focus on co-existence as an enabler for migration to a new core banking platform. Provide strategic support to executive leadership by contributing to the development and execution of long‑term organizational plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience
  • 15+ years relative work experience
  • 8+ years of management experience; or equivalent experience as the subject matter lead or expert in area of expertise
  • Advanced knowledge of Core Banking platforms and banking operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle cloud technologies, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Integration Cloud, Azure and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Significant experience in Core Banking, Retail Banking, Payments, Lending, or Financial Services technology environments.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale modernization, migration, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, API platforms, event-driven solutions, and enterprise integrations.
  • Knowledge in application or software development engineering principles, methodologies (including Agile), database structures, web technologies, and technical applications/languages
  • Knowledge in programming languages and development tools such as SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, with in-depth knowledge of modern development frameworks and libraries
  • Expert knowledge of industry best practices and organizational coding standards to optimizing code for performance, scalability, and user experience
  • ability to effectively communicate across multiple functional areas.
  • Requires a comprehensive understanding of internal and industry standards as well as the changing business environment
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence others internally and externally; including senior executives, vendors and regulators

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for turning the modernization program’s dual-core coexistence and migration strategy into practical operational products and artifacts across banking platforms
  • Manage stakeholders across business, technology and architecture partner teams
  • Provide executive leave reporting
  • Gain alignment on design, timelines, testing strategy across partner teams
  • Responsible for the implementation of Core Banking modernization program’s coexistence (on premise and cloud) model and data migration/integration strategy
  • Responsible for driving the design and development of the complete transaction lifecycle from originating channel through transport, ingestion, validation, decomposition, state resolution, routing, core processing, reconciliation, settlement, accounting, and General Ledger outcomes.
  • Responsible for driving the design of integration patterns for dual core routing (validate, enrich ,locate, route) inbound data to banking applications from internal and external platforms utilizing APIs, messaging services, event-driven architectures, and microservices
  • Responsible for managing the mechanics of the cloud core platform with focus on data processing and reconciliation
  • Responsible for managing the development of the integration design patterns for data egress from core banking platform to other internal and external platforms utilizing APIs, messaging services, event-driven architectures, and microservices
  • Lead the team responsible for engineering routing patterns for single-core, cross-core, split-post, shadow, replay, migration, and fallback scenarios for banking transactions
  • Lead the team responsible for defining engineering controls that preserve transaction atomicity, ordering, idempotency, balance integrity, posting completeness, and financial finality across both cores
  • Lead the adoption of AI-enabled software engineering capabilities, including intelligent code generation, test case creation, impact analysis, and documentation generation.
  • Design AI-driven observability and operational intelligence capabilities to proactively detect anomalies, identify root causes, and improve platform resiliency.
  • Supports the development of the conceptual models, curated enterprise context, AI reasoning capability, methodologies, and operational artifacts required for the broader modernization program to execute that strategy coherently and consistently at scale.
  • Lead strategy, vision and execution of line of business software product delivery using an automated factory-based delivery via DevSecOps pipelines
  • Establish and direct business technology software product delivery teams that can promptly respond to context-specific business needs for rapid delivery of solutions
  • Evolve the mainframe-based banking core to a modern cloud native core banking platform
  • Establish ubiquitous software engineering capabilities for developers, with appropriate coaching on development best practices and security guardrails to simplify and ensure rapid delivery of systems integration solutions across a hybrid Cloud footprint
  • Drive the interface with the business, including translation of business requirements into deliverable software solutions, working closely with the business unit and the Enterprise Transformation Office to ensure that needs and priorities are met
  • Accelerate adoption of automated testing and test coverage by enforcing a Test-Driven Development model in conjunction with properly governed quality and security gates
  • Leverage standardized tool chains to accelerate efforts for achieving continuous integration, continuous delivery and continuous monitoring with end-to-end automation of mission critical systems
  • Facilitate and coach stakeholders in agile practices throughout their agile transformation journey
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and external contacts (e.g., vendors, etc.)
  • Provide forward-thinking technical expertise in current and emerging technologies, trends and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
