About The Position

Leads all executive, administrative and staff talent acquisition and workforce development activities including strategic planning and implementation of recruitment and workforce initiatives for UT Dell Medical School’s operating entities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Education, Public Health or related field.
  • 10 years progressive professional level Human Resources experience with focus on workforce development, preferably in an academic medical center setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and process improvement skills in complex environments.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and strategic and critical systems thinking; ability to make sound decisions independently; action and solutions oriented.
  • Demonstrated analytical, forecasting, and project management skills to turn data into insights and action plans aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional HR certification such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP or Certified Health Care Staffing Professional (CHP)
  • HR experience in a public academic medical center with specific knowledge of Texas Government Code related to compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Develops strategies, selection/tracking systems, dashboards, and processes related to the acquisition and development of administrative and staff talent for Dell Med.
  • Supports the development of and maintains a comprehensive workforce development plan that identifies partnerships to attract, develop, and retain a viable workforce; trains individuals to meet the demands of an evolving healthcare environment; and maximizes the potential of future and current staff.
  • Directs the day-to-day operational, financial, and talent management activities for assigned areas, ensuring high quality, cost-effective services and outcomes, and a safe and productive work environment.
  • Ensures systems and processes are aligned to the Dell Med strategic plan and produce a qualified pipeline of candidates to fulfill the Dell Med mission.
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and community partners, to build and grow robust community and educational partnerships to create new labor pipelines that produce a steady stream of qualified talent.
  • Partners with stakeholders across Dell Med to ensure HR systems, policies, and practices meet their talent needs; identifies and addresses opportunities for improvement and removes barriers to progress as appropriate.
  • Establishes, monitors, and addresses key performance indicators (e.g., recruitment source efficiency, time to fill, time to hire, offer acceptance rate, qualified candidates per vacancy, interviews per hire, etc.) to ensure interventions produce the intended outcomes.
  • Supports workforce analytics initiatives to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develops dashboards and reports for executive leadership.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives in recruitment processes.
  • Ensures consistent and equitable hiring practices across departments.
  • Ensures compliance with UT System, state and federal regulatory requirements and university policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Motivates and inspires team members to achieve goals, providing direction and support and fostering a positive team environment.
  • Coaches and develops team members to build capability and engagement.
  • Promotes cross-functional collaboration within HR and across departments.
  • Ensures team alignment with organization values and goals.
