About The Position

The Ford Supply Chain team is a critical driver of quality, efficiency, and growth. As part of the Direct Commodity team, this role will help lead a global team to deliver a robust sourcing strategy and optimize end-to-end supply chain collaboration and partnerships. The Director Supply Chain will be instrumental in crafting and executing a sourcing strategy, including quality, cost, and delivery objectives for direct commodity groups, and is seeking someone with a strong background in end-to-end Supply Chain operations and experience leading a global team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, Advanced Degree preferred combining business and technical domains.
  • 10+ years of Purchasing/Supply Chain experience with extensive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, and management in a senior global role leading a transformation.
  • Strong business acumen to be effective at driving transformations and change management.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify gaps and propose innovative, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Strong Leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills are key, along with the ability to clearly communicate complex scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in change management and influencing without authority across global matrixed organizations.
  • History of managing ambiguity to define objectives, drive accountability, and motivate the team to achieve stretch goals.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of cost savings and value creation.
  • Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems, with the ability to learn other systems and leverage them to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, German) are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 15%.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a critical contributor to a high-visibility special project, charged with identifying and implementing value-creation opportunities for FCSD Purchasing from 2026 onward.
  • Following the project, leverage acquired expertise to drive impact in core FCSD Purchasing buying functions or through subsequent strategic assignments.
  • Strategically develop and implement comprehensive strategies for preventive maintenance and light repair parts procurement and warranty repairs, ensuring optimal cost-efficiency and parts availability.
  • Proactively assess and identify high-impact opportunities for third-party procurement consolidation, specifically focusing on areas such as warehousing services and high-volume tire purchases.
  • Spearhead the identification, evaluation, and successful implementation of high-value global category management initiatives, driving strategic sourcing, supplier rationalization, and demand management to achieve sustainable cost reductions and risk mitigation.
  • Design, develop, and implement an innovative kit-on-demand process.
  • Formulate and execute a data-driven purchasing strategy for parts, based on market profitability.
  • Strategically optimize all-time buys (ATBs) and balance-out processes to mitigate supply chain risks, secure advantageous pricing, and ensure critical parts availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Analyze and optimize Supplier Direct Ship (SDS) programs, with the primary goal of enhancing final-mile delivery efficiency, reducing lead times, and improving service levels for the entire dealer network.
