About The Position

Primary is looking for a Director of Supply Chain Operations to lead our logistics strategy and manage our inbound freight operations end-to-end—from purchase order release all the way through to domestic warehouse delivery. In this role, you will act as both a strategic planner and an operational builder. You’ll protect the business against global supply chain volatility, scale our wholesale infrastructure, and mentor a high-performing team. You'll help make sure product lands on time, at the right cost, and with the visibility our internal and external partners need to plan and scale with confidence. This is a fully remote role (the Primary team operates on US East Coast Time).

Requirements

  • Extensive background directing inbound freight strategy, carrier/forwarder negotiations, and vendor operations from purchase order to final delivery.
  • Experience preparing vendors, integrating EDI systems, and building operational frameworks to launch and scale wholesale partnerships.
  • Deep understanding of macro logistics trends, duty/tariff risk, and direct experience working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on compliance and clearance issues.
  • Skilled at establishing operational KPIs, building cost forecasting models, and streamlining manual reporting.
  • A natural communicator who builds strong working partnerships across Sourcing, Merchandising, Planning, and external vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite or modern AI productivity tools (like Claude) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end inbound logistics. Negotiate with and manage freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers using clear performance metrics to optimize transit times, service levels, and landed costs.
  • Serve as our expert on global supply chain trends. Anticipate port conditions, tariff changes, capacity constraints, and geopolitical shifts, building practical risk-mitigation strategies to prevent business disruption.
  • Lead the operational readiness for wholesale growth—overseeing overseas vendor preparation, EDI/systems development, and process alignment to onboard new wholesale partners smoothly.
  • Establish vendor scorecards, internal reporting, and monthly cross-functional reviews that provide clear ongoing visibility into freight performance, cost metrics, and compliance risk.
  • Own vendor routing and packing guidelines, partnering across Operations to enforce compliance and manage reporting or chargeback processes when necessary.
  • Partner with the VP of Operations to set departmental goals, forecast inbound freight costs, and manage operational P&L planning.
  • Direct and develop the Supply Chain Operations team (including managing our Senior Supply Chain Manager), nurturing talent, removing manual process friction, and building modern operational capacity.

Benefits

  • 4-day work weeks (for most roles, Fridays are flexible)
  • Generous time off (3-4 weeks of PTO, unlimited sick time, 10 holidays + winter break)
  • 12 weeks fully paid for all new parents
  • Multiple medical, dental, vision, and pre-tax accounts
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Perks like an employee discount, monthly learning (or gym) stipend, home-office reimbursement, and manager team-building fund
  • A kind, colorful, and collaborative culture
