As Director of Supply Chain, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire Material Control Cost Center which includes personnel responsible for the planning, purchasing, shipping, receiving & stockroom management including inventory control. This role involves strategic planning, process optimization, supplier management, and risk mitigation to achieve operational excellence and cost savings

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in supply chain management or a related field.
  • 10 years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous work experience sourcing parts such as custom machined parts, electronic components and assemblies as well as optical components.
  • Proven experience in supply chain and inventory management, with a track record of success in optimizing processes and driving operational improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams as well as regional and global committees.
  • Strategic thinking and planning abilities, with a focus on long-term vision, goal setting, and execution of supply chain strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Proficiency in use of SAP
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain supply chain strategies and procedures to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance performance throughout areas of primary responsibility.
  • Work with internal stakeholders including sales and finance teams, to align supply chain activities with business objectives, demand forecasts, and production schedules.
  • This person will be a member of both regional and global supply chain teams to help standardize and improve best practices on a global level.
  • Manage vendor contracts, negotiating terms, pricing, and service agreements to ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
  • Monitor and analyze supply chain performance metrics, such as inventory turnover, on-time delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Optimize inventory management processes, including demand planning, inventory control, and stock replenishment, to minimize stockouts, excess inventory, and carrying costs.
  • Implement supply chain risk management strategies, assessing potential risks, vulnerabilities, and disruptions, and developing contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Work with colleagues managing import/export and regulatory procedures as related to supply chain matters to ensure compliance.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous learning, development, and collaboration within the team.
  • Analyze market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies in supply chain management, staying updated on best practices and innovations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicate supply chain goals, objectives, and performance metrics to senior management and key stakeholders, presenting regular updates, reports, and recommendations.
