About The Position

Reporting to the Managing Director, Subsidiary Reporting and Financial Controls, this role provides end-to-end leadership and accountability for CPP Investments’ group company reporting, legal entity management, and sustainability reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening processes, ensuring data accuracy, and helping shape how CPP Investments measures and communicates sustainability metrics. The role is responsible for strong governance, regulatory compliance, financial integrity, and operational risk management across CPP Investments’ global group companies, while enabling scalable, efficient, and well-controlled structures that support investment activities.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field such as Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in financial reporting within investment management, pension funds, financial services, or a related industry.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
  • Advanced knowledge of corporate, financial, and regulatory filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and internal controls over financial reporting; knowledge of U.S. GAAP is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and regulatory trends.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to inclusively lead, inspire, and develop a diverse team of professionals.
  • Keen interest in sustainability, with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning.

  • Experience with GenAI tools, such as ChatGPT or Copilot, and automation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing, collaborative team of finance and accounting professionals responsible for financial statements and related reporting for CPP Investments’ group companies.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of annual financial statements and required regulatory reporting for CPP Investments’ group companies.
  • Develop and implement effective internal processes and controls, in partnership with key stakeholders, to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial information.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors during annual audits and resolve complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • Lead strategic projects and initiatives end-to-end, integrating stakeholder needs, adapting to change, and resolving issues.
  • Oversee the preparation of sustainability reports, disclosures, and other external communications.
  • Monitor evolving global sustainability reporting requirements and best practices, and provide recommendations on regulatory changes and implications for the organization.
  • Oversee the tracking and submission of periodic compliance deliverables for CPP Investments’ group companies, including Canadian and U.S. surveys.
  • Oversee the monthly general ledger close process, working with upstream and downstream stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Create a motivating work environment by providing regular performance feedback, development support, and mentorship to team members.
