About The Position

The Power & Energy segment is primarily responsible for supporting customers using various energy and power systems technologies. With a customer-back approach, the segment is delivering ongoing customer value through holistic energy and power solutions. The Director of Strategy in Power & Energy will provide leadership in setting the strategy for some of the most critical segment-level initiatives driving profitable growth. This role is a trusted partner to the Power & Energy Leadership team and has responsibility for identifying and executing opportunities to drive profitable growth across the entire segment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree within Finance, Economics, Engineering, or other related fields.
10+ years of financial experience, competitive analysis, and/or M&A, preferably within a larger and/or multinational corporation.
Knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately.
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them.
Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Responsibilities

Lead a portfolio of the most impactful projects and corporate processes that position Caterpillar for long-term success.
Develop business cases in support of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and asset acquisition targets, as required.
Provide support in establishing and executing an annual strategic planning process with the Executive team, business units, and functions.
Responsible for strategic prioritization and focus across multiple organizations, driving collaboration and coordination toward shared goals.
Work closely with cross-functional and leadership teams across the segment on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support.
Communicate recommendations about financial results, operational priorities, and planning in a clear and compelling manner with the appropriate levels of insight and actions.
Support portions of the Group President’s regular Board reporting.
Structure and solve business problems, collaborate, and coordinate with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues.
Link assumptions to outcomes, to set targets and drive business in right direction, ensuring appropriate but achievable levels of stretch.
Develop rigorous, fact-based analysis to support recommendations, ensuring strategic and financial soundness and alignment for recommendations.
