About The Position

Public Affairs & Access (PAA) is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Corporate Communications; Policy, Evidence & Access Strategy; Channel & Contract Management; External Affairs; Access Solutions and Patient Support; and Strategy and Business Operations. Our purpose is to deliver impact through a fully integrated public affairs function that leverages our capabilities and world-class Genentech brand to deliver on our mission for patients and our employees. The Strategy and Business Operations team is accountable for maximizing the impact of PAA through strategic operations partnership focused on delivering business priorities and outcomes. We are seeking a Director, Strategy and Business Operations to support our Patient Experience (PX) organization within Public Affairs & Access (PAA). In this high-impact role, you will serve as the Operations Lead (Chief of Staff) to the Vice President of PX and their leadership team. You will be responsible for defining the function's operational strategy, driving strategic and financial planning, and leading a dedicated team of operations professionals to maximize business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience, specifically in operations, management consulting, or strategy and operations.
  • Experience serving as an Operations Lead / Chief of Staff (or similar capacity) is required.
  • 2 or more years of people management experience.
  • Expert project manager and agile facilitator with a proven track record of leading large change management projects and implementing "new ways of working."
  • Expert level project management skills.
  • Proven track record at leading large change management projects, including project management, policy development, communication/training planning, and vendor management.
  • Expert knowledge (or a demonstrated aptitude to learn) healthcare compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Certification (PMI, PMP, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • 5 or more years of experience managing operations to support patient support or market access activities.
  • Prior experience managing vendors and contractors.
  • Deep expertise in the U.S. patient access and payer landscape, including commercial, government, and specialty pharmacy channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the PX operations team, setting the strategic vision, managing performance, and fostering a culture of belonging, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Serve as the primary strategic thought partner to the VP of PX and senior leadership, translating high-level vision into actionable operational plans and managing the "organizational heartbeat" of leadership meetings.
  • Develop and facilitate fit-for-purpose business, resource, and financial planning frameworks, including budget management, headcount planning, and outside spend optimization.
  • Lead strategic planning, corporate implementation, and complex change management activities for cross-functional teams, workstreams, and steering committees.
  • Drive people practices within the function, including talent attraction and retention, year-end performance reviews, talent management, succession planning, and individual career development.
  • Develop and execute multi-channel communication and engagement strategies to drive collaboration and alignment within PX and across the broader Genentech enterprise.
