About The Position

As a key member of the Walmart+ team, the Director, Strategic Partnerships plays a critical role in bringing to life our Walmart+ benefits. This person works with other leaders on the Walmart+ team and across the company to ensure Walmart+ members are aware of and engage with Walmart+ benefits, have a seamless experience, and as a result, are more satisfied with their Walmart+ membership. This includes leading a team that manages our value-proposition partnerships with several companies including Paramount, Exxon Mobil, Murphy USA, Expedia and others, leading partner Go To Market plans, working with other teams inside Walmart+ to drive acquisition and retention through benefit engagement, ensuring we abide by the terms of our agreements, coordinating with internal teams on marketing activities, in store activations, merchandising opportunities, and other relevant activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading strategic partnerships, alliances, or business development initiatives within large, complex organizations or consumer‑focused platforms.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high‑performing teams, influencing senior leaders, and managing executive‑level external relationships.
  • Strong negotiation expertise, including the ability to navigate complex contractual, legal, and regulatory considerations while driving win‑win outcomes.
  • Deep analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret business and financial data, translate insights into action, and influence decision‑making.
  • Experience developing and managing KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives, establish collaboration best practices, and operate effectively in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to present clearly and persuasively to internal and external senior stakeholders.
  • A data‑driven, problem‑solving mindset with a track record of anticipating risks, addressing complex challenges, and implementing scalable solutions.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis, insights techniques, and technology‑enabled process improvements as applied to strategic partnerships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 6 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key leader within the Walmart+ team, driving the strategy, execution, and evolution of Walmart+ value‑proposition partnerships to increase member awareness, engagement, acquisition, retention, and overall satisfaction.
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing partnerships team responsible for managing and scaling strategic relationships with partners such as Paramount, Exxon Mobil, Murphy USA, Expedia, and others.
  • Own partner go‑to‑market strategies, coordinating with marketing, merchandising, in‑store activations, and cross‑functional Walmart+ teams to deliver seamless and compelling member experiences.
  • Ensure partnership execution complies with contractual terms, company policies, and regulatory requirements, while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance partnership value.
  • Lead senior‑level partner presentations and executive business reviews, articulating partnership performance, strategic opportunities, and long‑term growth plans.
  • Drive complex, cross‑functional initiatives by fostering strong relationships across Walmart, establishing best practices for collaboration, and aligning shared goals, metrics, and information‑sharing mechanisms.
  • Facilitate and lead contractual negotiations, clearly articulating Walmart’s negotiating positions, preparing senior leaders with data‑driven insights, and driving mutually beneficial outcomes for Walmart and its partners.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve complex partnership challenges by recommending and guiding corrective or preventive actions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze business and financial performance to understand key drivers impacting strategic partnerships, communicate insights to diverse audiences, and support the development and execution of business plans aligned to financial goals.
  • Develop, track, and optimize KPIs and performance dashboards to ensure operational excellence and data‑driven decision‑making across the strategic partnerships portfolio.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing partnerships, improve data quality and governance, and champion process automation and technology‑enabled improvements.
  • Manage partnership‑related projects using appropriate evaluation tools and methodologies, continuously improving effectiveness, efficiency, and cost outcomes while supporting broader Walmart and community initiatives.
