About The Position

Temple University's Center for Diversity and Inclusion is searching for a Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships. The Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships serves as a key leader within IDEAL, advancing Temple University's strategic priorities and commitment to inclusive excellence. The Director develops and implements strategic initiatives that strengthen institutional capacity, foster welcoming and inclusive learning and working environments, and expand Temple's impact within Philadelphia and beyond. Working collaboratively with schools, colleges, administrative units, and external organizations, the Director cultivates partnerships that advance IDEAL's priorities related to culture and belonging, interfaith inclusion, employee engagement, student success, community impact, and organizational effectiveness. The Director leads university-wide collaborative efforts, develops innovative educational and engagement opportunities, and identifies sustainable partnership and revenue-generating opportunities that expand IDEAL's reach and support its long-term goals. The Director serves as a connector, convener, and strategic thought partner, helping to build bridges across communities, foster dialogue and collaboration, and strengthen Temple's commitment to creating an environment where all members of the university community can thrive.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the areas of higher education, educational leadership, sociology, human resources, or a related field.
  • At least six years of progressively responsible, directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, intercultural engagement, organizational culture, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of contemporary issues and best practices related to campus climate, belonging, engagement, and inclusive excellence in higher education.
  • Experience facilitating dialogue, training, and engagement across diverse identities, perspectives, and communities, including familiarity with dialogue models.
  • Demonstrated experience providing consultation and organizational development support to leaders and teams.
  • Ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues with diplomacy, sound judgment, and a commitment to constructive engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs, initiatives, and collaborative solutions that advance institutional priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships that support student success, community engagement, place-based impact, and organizational growth.
  • Understanding of the role public urban research universities play in advancing educational opportunity, community engagement, and social impact.
  • Ability to identify and pursue grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and fee-based opportunities that strengthen organizational capacity and financial sustainability.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering environments that promote belonging, engagement, access, and success for diverse communities.
  • Cover letter is required.
