As Director, Strategic Finance, you will build and lead Slingshot’s financial planning and analysis function for the Engineering org, serving as a key strategic partner to the executive team. You’ll translate complex financial data into actionable insights, guide critical business decisions, and help scale the financial infrastructure needed to support rapid growth and capital strategy. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and finance—driving long-range planning, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting fundraising and investor engagement. Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, or Strategic Finance roles.
  • Proven experience in high-growth B2B SaaS, aerospace, or defense environments.
  • Strong expertise in financial modeling and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics (ARR, CAC, LTV) and/or government contracting principles (FAR, CAS).
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite and FP&A planning tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts to executive stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting venture capital or private equity fundraising and investor relations.
  • Background in scaling finance functions in startup or growth-stage companies.
  • Experience with M&A analysis or due diligence.
  • Familiarity with space, aerospace, or defense industry dynamics.
  • MBA, CPA, or other advanced financial certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), long-range (3–5 year) planning, and rolling forecast processes for Engineering and Technology.
  • Partner with the CFO, CEO, and executive team to inform company-wide strategy and decision-making.
  • Develop and refine financial narratives for board meetings and investor communications.
  • Deliver clear, data-driven insights through executive dashboards, KPIs, and performance reporting.
  • Prepare materials for Board of Directors and investors, including variance analysis and forward-looking projections.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders across Engineering.
  • Evaluate ROI on new initiatives, pricing strategies, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Drive accountability around budget management and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models (including 3-statement models) to support scenario planning, M&A, and fundraising.
  • Support capital-raising efforts, including investor diligence and financial storytelling.
  • Own and optimize FP&A tools and systems (e.g., NetSuite Planning & Budgeting, Adaptive Planning).
  • Establish scalable processes for forecasting, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment between Finance, Accounting, and Operations.
  • Define and track KPIs across SaaS and government contracting environments (e.g., ARR, burn, CAC, contract margins).
  • Conduct deep analysis on cost of delivery, gross margin, and contract profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, pricing, and overall financial performance.
