As Director of Special Education, you'll lead a team of dedicated special education teachers and paraprofessionals, ensuring every student with an IEP receives compliant, high-quality instructional support. You'll apply your deep expertise in special education law and inclusive instruction to coach your team, strengthen service delivery, and make a real difference for students and districts across the country. This is a role where your knowledge, your leadership, and your care for students with disabilities genuinely shapes outcomes every day.

Requirements

  • Hold a Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Bring 5-7 years of progressive experience in special education, including at least 2 years managing or leading a team of educators
  • Hold state certification or licensure in special education or special education administration (or the equivalent)
  • Expert in IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and the federal and state regulations that govern special education service delivery
  • A coach at heart: you set clear expectations, give direct and supportive feedback, and genuinely invest in the growth of the educators around you
  • Experience building or improving instructional systems and compliance processes within a functional team or program
  • Communicate with clarity and consistency, whether you're working with your team, district partners, or colleagues across departments
  • Designed or facilitated professional development that builds educator capacity in inclusive instruction and IEP implementation
  • Thrive in remote-first, fast-paced environments and bring strong organizational skills to managing multiple priorities
  • Willing to take on evolving responsibilities based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • A Doctorate is a plus
  • Experience with virtual or blended learning models

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of special education teachers and paraprofessionals, setting clear expectations for instructional quality, caseload management, documentation, and compliance
  • Monitor IEP service implementation to ensure instructional fidelity, appropriate accommodations and modifications, and consistent student support across all service models
  • Ensure services meet IDEA, Section 504, and ADA requirements; drive compliance readiness and continuous improvement in documentation and service delivery practices
  • Partner with district leaders to support implementation, respond to service delivery questions, and contribute to customer-facing conversations about program quality
  • Design and deliver professional development that builds your team's capacity in inclusive instruction, IEP implementation, and compliance practices
  • Contribute to cross-functional alignment with Curriculum, Product, and Support teams, ensuring special education expertise informs relevant initiatives
