About The Position

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Solution Lead – Critical Infrastructure Resilience to serve as the senior solution architect and technical lead for captures across Astrion’s Critical Infrastructure Resilience (CIR) mission areas: Transportation, Energy, and DIB Infrastructure. The role owns the strategic solution roadmap and translates complex requirements into differentiated, executable solutions. The Solution Lead will help transform Astrion’s CIR business from SETA-heavy labor delivery to repeatable, technology-enabled Mission Solutions that generate reusable evidence, tools, data, and outcomes. The role will lead technical solution development for priority captures and mature offerings such as Mission Evidence Packs, Digital Twins, OT/ICS Assessment & Hardening, Exercise & Readiness packages, resilience dashboards, and sector-specific readiness solutions. This role thrives in ambiguity and works with the Campaign Lead, Mission Segment Leaders, Operations, Growth, Astrion Core / Solutions leadership, Engineering, Finance, Contracts, partners, and customers to shape pursuits, develop technical approaches and roadmaps, make make/buy/partner decisions, build demonstrations, prototypes, and MVPs, and tie solution investments to qualified pipeline and customer outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, data science, operations research, business, or a related field; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
15+ years of experience in solution architecture, solution development, systems engineering, digital engineering, cyber-physical resilience, test and evaluation, critical infrastructure, defense, civil, energy, transportation, or GovTech markets.
8+ years of leadership experience leading multidisciplinary technical, engineering, solution-architecture, productized-services, or matrixed pursuit teams.
Proven experience leading technical solution development across the government acquisition and proposal lifecycle, from customer shaping and opportunity qualification through RFIs, Sources Sought, RFPs, technical volumes, white papers, reviews, oral presentations, and post-award transition.
Ability to translate complex government requirements and mission challenges into traceable solution architectures, technical approaches, work breakdown structures, bases of estimate, reference architectures, implementation roadmaps, MVPs, risks, and assumptions from concept through repeatable delivery.
Demonstrated ability to turn services-based capabilities into repeatable, market-facing Mission Solutions, including reusable artifacts, tools, dashboards, demonstrations, delivery playbooks, and proposal-ready technical content.
Strong understanding of systems engineering, mission integration, operational test and evaluation, cyber-physical resilience, digital engineering, data/AI, OT/ICS, or infrastructure modernization.
Experience collaborating with capture managers, business development leaders, subject matter experts, partners, pricing, contracts, and operations to develop differentiated, executable win strategies and delivery approaches.
Demonstrated judgment in make/buy/partner decisions, including assessment of internal capability gaps, partner technologies, build vs. buy tradeoffs, and investment priorities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for customers, operators, growth teams, partners, and senior leadership.
High tolerance for ambiguity, strong critical judgment, and the ability to structure and advance solutions with incomplete information while managing multiple concurrent pursuits under tight deadlines.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience in critical infrastructure resilience, mission assurance, transportation modernization, energy resilience, nuclear / advanced reactor markets, or DIB Infrastructure.
Experience with one or more priority customer or market areas, including FAA/DOT, DHS/TSA/CISA/CBP, DOE/NNSA, NRC, national laboratories, DoD infrastructure, NAVFAC, USACE, commercial nuclear, SMRs, utilities, airports, ports, rail/transit, hyperscalers, or data-center energy infrastructure.
Experience with digital twins, model-based systems engineering, geospatial analytics, AI-enabled decision support, mission-thread modeling, consequence analysis, requirements-to-test traceability, reliability analytics, or operational readiness dashboards.
Experience with OT/ICS/SCADA environments, industrial control systems, facility-related control systems, control-system OEMs, or OT cyber vendors and standards such as IEC 62443, NIST guidance, CISA guidance, RMF, or CMMC.
Experience building or integrating partner ecosystems across cloud, AI, digital twin, OT/ICS, control-system OEM, infrastructure engineering, national laboratory, small-business, or commercial partners.
Experience with DOE/NNSA Management & Operating contractors, national laboratory procurement pathways, regulated-commercial infrastructure owners/operators, or international infrastructure markets.
Experience with IR&D planning, product management, Agile / MVP delivery, MOSA / open-architecture principles, platform-enabled services, or product-attached professional services.
Experience supporting M&A diligence or technology acquisition decisions for capability gaps in digital engineering, OT/ICS, AI, cyber-physical resilience, critical infrastructure, or energy markets.
Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance. Relevant certifications such as INCOSE, PMP, CISSP, GICSP, CISA/CISM, IEC 62443, cloud certifications, or engineering licensure are a plus.

Responsibilities

Own the CIR mission-area solution roadmap across Transportation Infrastructure, Energy Infrastructure, and DIB Infrastructure.
Serve as the senior solution architect and technical lead for priority captures and proposals, ensuring each has differentiated, executable, and repeatable solution approaches.
Lead end-to-end technical solution development for priority RFIs, Sources Sought notices, and RFPs: decompose requirements, engage customers pre-RFP to validate needs and sharpen positioning, architect solutions, lead technical volumes and reviews, and support post-award transition.
Define, mature, and package CIR Mission Solutions, including Mission Evidence Packs, Digital Twins, OT/ICS Assessment & Hardening, Exercise & Readiness packages, resilience dashboards, and sector-specific readiness solutions that model dependencies, test degraded operations, validate remediation, and produce defensible mission evidence.
Partner with Growth, Capture, and Program leadership to align solution development with 12–36 month pipeline priorities, customer demand, capture strategies, acquisition approaches, and technology trends.
Translate complex customer mission challenges and government requirements into solution concepts, mission models, technical approaches, reference architectures, concepts of operations, implementation roadmaps, technical volumes, delivery playbooks, and post-award transition plans.
Author and direct customer-facing technical narratives, white papers, proposal content, solution graphics, and reference architectures with limited direction.
Lead make/buy/partner recommendations for the CIR solution roadmap, including gaps in OT/ICS, digital twin engineering, AI/data, cyber-physical assessment, commercial channels, and partner-enabled delivery.
Integrate Astrion catalog capabilities and tools into CIR Mission Solutions where appropriate and contribute reusable CIR solution modules to Astrion’s solution catalog.
Build and manage technical partner strategies with cloud, AI, digital twin, OT/ICS, control-system OEM, infrastructure engineering, national laboratory, small-business, and commercial channel partners.
Establish solution governance and maturity criteria to move offerings from concept through pilot to scalable delivery; apply lessons from wins, losses, pilots, and transitions; and use requirements-to-test traceability and mission evidence where appropriate.
Partner with Growth, Finance, Contracts, and Operations to support packaging, technical work breakdown structures and bases of estimate, pricing, contract type considerations, data rights, partner roles, and product-attached services.
Create customer-facing and internal artifacts, including capability statements, solution briefs, demos, prototypes, MVP backlogs, white papers, reference architectures, technical differentiators, technical volumes, and proposal language.
