The Director, Software Engineering leads the execution and delivery of complex software and AI/ML systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with strategic objectives. This role oversees the full development lifecycle, champions DevOps practices, and drives cloud cost optimization to enhance engineering efficiency. The position requires strong leadership to build and mentor high-performing teams, manage cross-functional collaboration, and align roadmaps with business priorities. The Director fosters continuous improvement, technical excellence, and operational rigor while maintaining accountability for quality and timely delivery of innovative technology solutions. The team developed Walmart Data Ventures, a platform offering actionable, customer-centric insights that empower CPGs and Walmart merchants to make informed, data-driven decisions efficiently. Requirements
- Proven leadership in managing complex software engineering projects and cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in software development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Strong proficiency in DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and system reliability.
- Experience integrating AI/ML technologies and agentic systems within software platforms.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, project planning, and aligning technology roadmaps with business goals.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated capacity to mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
- Excellent technical judgment and adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 3 years' supervisory experience.
