About The Position

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is seeking a Director of Software Engineering for its Enterprise Shared Services team. This pivotal leadership role oversees technology initiatives for TFS Enterprise Shared Services and frameworks, developing and executing a technology strategy aligned with business objectives. The director uses technical expertise to drive innovation and business outcomes, and works with Technology Domain Owners, Enterprise Architecture, Data Domain Owners, Business Domain Owners, and other internal and external partners. The role leads and develops an engineering team while delivering technology strategy and solutions, including real-time platforms and tools for cloud-based distributed systems, AI/ML, and critical workflows. It includes advancing real-time system communication for customer notifications, servicing updates, and operational events, as well as managing relationships with technology vendors and service providers.

Requirements

12 or more years of software engineering leadership experience, including designing and implementing modern 12-factor cloud-native business technology solutions.
10 or more years of practical knowledge of cloud platforms, with credentials and certification in cloud technologies.
10 or more years of practical knowledge of advanced software design patterns and architecture, including Domain-Driven Design and Simple Design, and DevOps.
3 or more years of experience with real-time, event-driven microservice architecture using Kafka and related technologies.
5 or more years of proficiency in Java, Spring Framework (including Spring Batch and Spring Integration), streaming technologies such as Kafka, and microservices architecture.
Demonstrated experience building and managing production-grade systems, including operational readiness, security, efficiency, and other non-functional requirements.
5 or more years of direct management experience and a proven history of acting as a change agent.
Demonstrated experience building a high-performing team with cross-company collaboration, enterprise-wide reach, or strategic business importance.
A track record of delivering scalable cloud-native solutions and developing frameworks for cross-cutting concerns such as logging, application testing, application security, and instrumentation, using languages such as Java, Python, and SQL and AWS tools and services.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with engineers and frontline operations employees and lead presentations for non-technical stakeholders.
Interest in keeping up with technology trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in technology communities, mentoring engineers, and occasionally coding or evaluating code.
Must have the right to work in the United States without requiring Toyota immigration support or sponsorship now or in the future.
