About The Position

This is a foundational role with real ownership. You will be responsible for building the league’s voice, scaling its audience, and turning content into reach, relevance, and revenue. The Director of Social Media will lead all social strategy, content planning, and platform execution for Dunkman League.

Requirements

• This role requires someone who does not wait for direction. You are expected to bring ideas, move quickly, and execute at a high level.
• You will work closely with leadership, athletes, production, and design to ensure everything we create is built to win on social.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in social media, digital content, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of all major social platforms including algorithms, trends, and monetization.
• Proven track record of growing audiences and driving engagement through content.
• Strong instincts for what works and the ability to execute quickly.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with demonstrated success meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communicator who is comfortable working with executives, athletes, and partners.
• Self-starter with leadership ability and a high standard for execution.
• Able to adapt quickly and problem solve in real time.
• Demonstrated success designing and driving strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to implement.
• Passion for sports, culture, and content.

Responsibilities

• Lead the social media strategy for the Dunkman sports league across all platforms, driving audience growth, engagement, cultural relevance, and brand affinity.
• Own and lead Dunkman’s social media strategy across all major platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Snapchat, and Facebook.
• Build and manage content calendars, posting cadence, and platform-specific strategies that you will then be responsible for implementing.
• Oversee creation of platform-specific social content, including short-form video, graphics, photography, copy, memes, highlights, and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
• Lead real-time social coverage during live events, including highlight distribution, fan interaction, reactive posting, and issue escalation when needed.
• Identify trends across sports, culture, and social media and act on them quickly.
• Lead community management, commenting, and engagement across all social platforms.
• Collaborate closely with team on aggregating announcement details for press releases and managing timelines for distribution of these announcements across social.
• Develop original content concepts, campaigns, and social-first storytelling formats.
• Collaborate with production and design teams to create and optimize content for distribution.
• Work with wider integrated marketing team to feed into all corporate trackers, analytics process, and weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting.
• Understand commercial relationships with all league sponsors and integrate contractual and organic support into content plans and posting cadence; develop custom reporting for all individual sponsors and league partners.
• Work directly with athletes to capture authentic, high impact content.
• Ensure all content is built for performance, engagement, and monetization.
• Track performance and continuously refine strategy based on data, translating insights into actionable recommendations that improve content performance and audience growth.
• Present ideas and campaigns clearly to executives, sponsors, and partners.
• Maintain relationships with social media platforms when needed.
• Operate effectively in fast moving environments where priorities shift and timelines are tight.
• Collaborate creators and partners to expand reach through coordinated content, influencer activations, and cross-promotional opportunities.
• Partner with Authentic Brands Group’s social and influencer marketing teams to identify cross-brand social opportunities within Authentic’s brand portfolio.
• Partner with Authentic corporate communications team on rolling out social milestones across company and executive social channels, newsletters, and email comms.
• Up to 40% travel, including attendance at live events, production activities, meetings, and other business-related engagements.
