About The Position

The Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible for leading the Company's external financial reporting process and providing technical accounting guidance across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate SEC filings, evaluating complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP, maintaining accounting policies, and supporting strategic transactions. The position partners closely with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, Investor Relations, and external auditors to ensure compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in public accounting or publicly traded companies
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within SEC reporting at a listed SEC registrant
  • Experience with complex ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Experience with SEC reporting tools (Workiva or Active Disclosure preferred)
  • Experience with one of the Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting firms required
  • CPA required
  • Overall understanding and experience in application of GAAP and SEC financial reporting requirements, including financial statements and financial statement footnotes and MD&A
  • Proficient in researching and applying technical accounting literature
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations
  • Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize critical deadlines
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be detail-oriented, have a proactive approach and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of all SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy Statements, registration statements, and Section 16 filings, including review of XBRL tagging
  • Prepare and review financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, EPS calculations, statement of cash flows, statement of stockholders' equity, and supporting schedules
  • Research, document, and implement technical accounting conclusions for complex transactions under U.S. GAAP and IFRS, including the preparation of technical accounting memoranda
  • Monitor new accounting standards and SEC regulations, assess their impact on the Company, and lead implementation efforts
  • Lead accounting for stock-based compensation under ASC 718 and IFRS 2, including valuation coordination, expense recognition, modifications, and collaboration with HR, Payroll, and Stock Administration
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financing transactions, and other strategic initiatives, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and preparation of required SEC financial information and pro forma disclosures
  • Lead the Company's quarterly and annual impairment assessment process, including goodwill, long-lived assets, and other assets, as applicable
  • Maintain the Company's accounting policies and technical accounting guidance
  • Coordinate quarterly reporting timelines and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors, legal counsel, valuation specialists, and other advisors for SEC reporting and technical accounting matters
  • Support the Company's disclosure controls and procedures and internal controls over financial reporting related to SEC reporting
