About The Position

The University of Florida seeks a visionary leader and educator to serve as Director of the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning (SLA&P) and Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture. Our mission is to prepare future practitioners and scholars committed to advancing the efficacy, impact, and knowledge of landscape architecture and planning, to engage in research and scholarship that enhances the understanding and practice of the professions while addressing societal challenges, and to provide service to the communities of our state, region and abroad. This twelve-month appointment is eligible for tenure-upon-hire and is available starting July 1st, 2027.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in landscape architecture or some combination of professional qualification in landscape architecture (BLA, licensure, etc.) and terminal degree in a related field. Examples of relevant degrees may include Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Design (DDes), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA).
  • Distinguished record in teaching, research or creative scholarship, and service sufficient to merit tenure upon hire at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
  • Administrative experience including management of budgets, personnel and curriculum at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated record of: advancing the knowledge of landscape architecture and its evolving role in society and effectively communicating its value within government, industry, and academic sectors; commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, engagement with students and promotion of student success; commitment to faculty development and mentoring; and commitment to collaborative working across disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. or licensure in landscape architecture or a related field

  • Experience establishing and implementing a strategic plan with clear goals and outcomes
