About The Position

We’re seeking a Director, Risk Management & Patient Safety to lead clinical risk and patient safety programs while partnering with senior leadership, physicians, clinical teams, and regulatory stakeholders. This role combines hands-on clinical risk expertise with strategic leadership, including risk assessment, patient safety investigations, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk mitigation. This opportunity stands out as it offers direct leadership of Clinical Risk Management & Patient Safety programs within an acute-care hospital environment with complex clinical risk exposure. The role involves leading sophisticated Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and FMEA initiatives, overseeing infection prevention and architectural infection-control risk considerations, and influencing patient safety strategy through data, risk trends, and quality analytics.

Requirements

CPHRM certification
Active California RN license
Recent Clinical Risk Management experience in an acute-care hospital
3–5+ years of recent clinical risk management experience
Demonstrated expertise conducting detailed clinical chart reviews

Responsibilities

Direct hospital-wide clinical risk management and patient safety programs
Identify, investigate, escalate, and mitigate significant clinical risks, safety events, near misses, and emerging trends
Establish standards for Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, clinical record audits, utilization reviews, and corrective action plans
Oversee quality-of-care complaints, sensitive patient investigations, claims-related risk indicators, and significant event management
Develop sustainable strategies that strengthen the organization’s culture of safety and continuous learning
