Requirements

  • 4 to 8 years running state or local political campaigns at scale, including hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector.
  • Self-starter with sound judgement who is proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented.
  • Land-use, siting, or infrastructure approval experience.
  • Highly organized, with strong systems for managing competing priorities, tracking details, and keeping multiple workstreams moving against tight deadlines.
  • Track record of running multiple campaigns at once, setting priorities and holding timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills, including the ability to make complex permitting and regulatory questions plain for local audiences.
  • Experience using renewable energy databases like Curate, Landgate and AI tools.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and staff against hard external deadlines.
  • Demonstrated comfort working with rural communities and county board chambers.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with battery energy storage siting and the local politics specific to it.
  • Background in measurement and evaluation of campaigns, including both qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Experience working with renewable energy developers on project-level approvals.

Responsibilities

  • Own a live portfolio of county engagements end to end, from initial assessment through hearing, vote, and ordinance outcome
  • Stand up local support committees in priority counties and keep them active across the full approval timeline
  • Lead campaigns that move counties out of moratoria and into approved projects, working the ordinance and renewal clocks that govern them
  • Share and leverage subject matter expertise in community engagement, stakeholder relations, and project deployment across a variety of renewable energy technologies
  • Develop guides and collateral for engaging with local officials, stakeholders, and communities to promote renewable energy projects
  • Build and maintain relationships with county officials, planning and zoning staff, renewable energy developers, community leaders, funders, partners and other key stakeholders
  • Draft reports, memos, letters and other communications for stakeholders
  • Support advocacy efforts for policy and regulatory changes that streamline renewable energy deployment locally and at the state level
  • Support community engagement efforts with partners and other stakeholders, including town halls, community events, or other opportunities
  • Translate team-level strategy into tailored county and state campaign plans, then lead their execution based on local conditions and community dynamics.
  • Identify opposition early and engage communities proactively, rather than responding once opposition has already organized
  • Work with local partners, governments, developers, and stakeholders to craft messaging and build coalitions in favor of renewable projects
  • Keep campaign intelligence and project-tracking systems accurate and current for every county in the portfolio, so forecasting and reporting rest on live data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Report on campaign outcomes, risks and opportunities to senior leadership, ensuring accountability and alignment with strategic objectives
