About The Position

The Director, Regulatory and Policy – MISO and SPP markets will lead market engagement, regulatory strategy, state policy and legislative activities focused on the Central region of the US. This includes MISO and SPP, as well as state regulatory and policy matters within these regions. The role supports business growth by influencing policy outcomes, monitoring regulatory developments, participating in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes, and developing strategies that advance Calibrant objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, market strategy, or related field
  • Experience with ISO/RTO market structures and electricity industry regulatory frameworks, including direct experience engaging in MISO and SPP markets.
  • Experience in distributed energy resources, battery storage, or large-load customers.
  • Experience participating in ISO/RTO market committees and drafting regulatory filings.
  • Experience tracking legislative developments.
  • Ability to communicate complex regulatory matters to business and executive audiences in order to inform business strategy.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, and advocacy skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish regulatory and policy priorities aligned with Calibrant commercial objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance regarding legislative and regulatory developments affecting distributed energy resources, storage, and large-load customers.
  • Lead engagement with ISO/RTO market committees, utilities, and stakeholders in MISO and SPP.
  • Monitor market rule developments, regulatory actions and state policy that impact Calibrant’s business and translate into actionable business guidance.
  • Represent Calibrant in stakeholder meetings, industry committees, technical conferences, and trade associations.
  • Advocate for regulatory and policy outcomes that support Calibrant’s business growth, project development, and customer solutions.
  • Coordinate consultants, lobbyists, and external advisors to support regulatory initiatives and strategic objectives.
  • Partner with Market Development, Project Delivery, Market Operations, and Commercial teams on strategy and execution.
  • Interface with utilities, transmission owners, ISOs/RTOs, and state regulators to advance projects and resolve regulatory issues.
  • Develop business cases, position papers, comments, and regulatory filings as needed.
  • Identify regulatory risks and opportunities and communicate impacts to leadership.
  • Support community, customer, and stakeholder engagement efforts related to infrastructure and energy projects.
