About The Position

The Regional Director of Physician Practices provides strategic and operational leadership for assigned physician practices within the Deaconess Physician Enterprise. This role is responsible for driving practice performance, operational efficiency, financial sustainability, clinical quality, and physician and employee engagement across a multi-site practice environment. Working closely with physician leadership, the Vice President of Ambulatory Practices, Regional Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, and system support departments, the Regional Director develops and executes strategies that advance organizational goals while supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or health preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in physician practice management required.
  • Demonstrated success leading operations within a multi-specialty physician practice environment.
  • Strong knowledge of physician practice management, operations, financial management, and physician compensation and incentives.
  • Ability to effectively partner with physicians, influence behavior, resolve conflict, and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Understanding of physician contracting, revenue cycle management, practice acquisitions, financial reporting, and quality measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple practice locations and develop effective practice leaders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, coaching, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with practice management systems and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to analyze operational and financial data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, reimbursement requirements, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for assigned physician practices and aligns operational goals with overall organizational priorities.
  • Develops business plans for existing and new services and identifies opportunities to improve growth, access, quality, productivity, and financial performance.
  • Partners with physician leadership and physician recruitment to assess practice needs and support recruitment of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Leads and evaluates the operations of assigned clinical practices, promoting continuous improvement, standardization, and increased productivity.
  • Establishes performance benchmarks and monitors operational, financial, and clinical metrics to ensure achievement of organizational goals.
  • Collaborates with system support departments, including finance, human resources, revenue cycle, information technology, laboratory, imaging, surgery, and endoscopy, to support practice operations.
  • Builds strong relationships with physicians and practice leadership to promote alignment, accountability, and achievement of practice goals.
  • Coaches and develops practice-level directors, administrators, managers, coordinators, and other leaders to improve operational performance and employee and physician satisfaction.
  • Oversees compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and organizational policies, including CMS, CLIA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supports employee recruitment, development, performance management, staffing, productivity, and compensation activities in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Partners with physician recruitment and leadership on provider contracts, amendments, renewals, and other related agreements.
  • Oversees operating and capital budgets for assigned practices and monitors financial performance against established goals.
  • Analyzes financial, statistical, and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Develops and implements action plans to address performance, budget, productivity, and operational variances.
  • Provides recommendations and decision support to executive and physician leadership regarding practice operations, growth opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Promotes patient engagement and a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
