About The Position

Anthropologie is looking for a Director of Raw Materials who will be responsible for the implementation of a strategy for the brand that allows designs vision for raw materials to be met while also adhering to the business goals of the company in terms of IMU, Lead time, quality and efficiency. Manages the fabric team to achieve this.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years experience in textile sourcing or merchandising for a fashion retailer in the US.
  • Has extensive knowledge of fabric, machinery and fabric manufacturing. Understands the technical requirements of their brand , Understands RM impact on fabric economics.
  • Ability to assess mills and has travelled extensively internationally to mills.
  • Understands KPI reports and creates tools to assess their business performance.
  • Can work independently within the PLM system with accuracy. Understands the ownership chart as a working tool and makes informed decisions on ownership action.
  • Strong communication and presentations skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Raw Materials for the brand and ensures fabric information and demands are met from crossfunctional partners.
  • Works with Brand directors to align global fabric sourcing strategy with the global vendor sourcingstrategy. Continuous assessment through benchmarking of new opportunities.
  • Responsible for mill onboarding and mill assessment.
  • Inventory management – controls with the brand, inventory in the form of fabric platforming to take advantage of RM pricing, quality and lead time. Monitors life cycle of inventory in terms of useage and write offs.
  • Responsible for brand and department goals in terms of Quality /Cost /Regional penetration and Leadtime. Sets strategies to achieve goals in terms of quality, cost, regional penetration and lead time. Impacts the business positively at a process level through the recommendation of strategies to effect KPIs. Identifies problems that could effect these.
  • Understands the brand aesthetic and is able to make suggestions on fabric qualities and mills to support this for their category. Supplies innovative product in line with the brand aesthetic regularly.
  • Challenges mills on costing and lead time, based on an extensive understanding of global fabric costing and lead time.
  • Can review test reports and bulk issues - can identify and make recommendations to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Has strong mill relationships that relate to their brand and are strategic for URBN
  • Engineering of fabric developments at the mill and yarn level to drive leverage and economies of scale.
