Director, Project Management

IREN•San Francisco, CA
•$192,000 - $250,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Director, Project Management owns the execution layer of IREN's industrialized delivery model — leading the teams responsible for technical project management, project controls, and supplier qualification/logistics across the modular construction portfolio. This role translates engineering designs and manufacturing partner capacity into delivered projects, ensuring modules arrive on schedule, on budget, and ready for installation across IREN's concurrent global data center projects. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in construction or program/project management, with demonstrated expertise managing multi-project portfolios in modular, prefabricated, or industrialized construction environments.
  • Proven track record in supplier/vendor qualification, capacity planning, and logistics coordination for off-site manufactured components.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in cost controls, schedule management, and stakeholder reporting at the executive level.
  • Experience building and leading project management, project controls, and supply chain/logistics teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field required; PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience in hyperscale, colocation, or owner-operator data center development highly valued; willingness and ability to travel.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office location on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid work arrangement.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience in hyperscale, colocation, or owner-operator data center development highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical project managers embedded across DfMA and mechanical/electrical scope, ensuring project schedules reflect the realities of modular design, fabrication, and field tie-in sequencing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact resolving scope, interface, or schedule conflicts between manufacturing engineering and construction/commissioning teams.
  • Own cost and schedule performance across the portfolio, directing the Project Controls lead's cost-controls and schedule-coordination functions.
  • Translate field, fabrication, and manufacturing-partner progress into portfolio-level reporting for the VP's industrialized delivery scorecard (schedule compression, total cost of ownership, cost performance).
  • Direct the Supplier Qualification/Logistics lead's team in qualifying, contracting, and developing manufacturing partners capable of meeting IREN's volume, quality, and speed requirements.
  • Oversee logistics sequencing — transportation routing, crane lift sequencing, site readiness prerequisites, and just-in-time delivery scheduling — ensuring modules arrive ready for immediate installation without staging delays.
  • Own advanced capacity vendor planning, ensuring the supply chain scales with IREN's pipeline without single-source dependency, quality degradation, or lead-time extension risk.
  • Recruit, build, and lead the Project Management organization, including the Technical PM, Project Controls, and Supplier Qualification/Logistics leads and their teams.
  • Set standards for project governance, reporting cadence, and stage-gate discipline across all active projects.
  • Serve as a primary integration point between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and finance for all matters related to project delivery timing and supplier readiness.
  • Partner with construction leadership and regional project teams to embed modular delivery requirements into project governance and procurement strategy.
  • Own portfolio-level project performance reporting — cost variance, schedule compression versus traditional delivery, and supplier/logistics risk — feeding directly into the VP's scorecard.
  • Establish project-level targets for each delivery cycle and drive year-over-year improvement in delivery efficiency as the manufacturing partner network deepens.
