About The Position

This is a key role within the Loan Capital Markets & Sustainable Finance team, focusing on originating and executing Project & Export Finance transactions in the US for WBG, IBM & PCG clients of the Bank. The role also involves supporting the Project Finance and Export Finance transactions of the wider LCM & SF team as needed. The position requires developing relationships with project developers, banks, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), and other Project Finance advisors to identify financing opportunities aligned with FAB’s credit appetite. Collaboration with Wholesale Banking Group, Investment Banking & Markets, Privileged Client Group coverage teams (US and Global), and other FAB product teams is essential. Additionally, building strategic relationships with internal stakeholders like Credit is a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in managing and facilitating corporate finance loans business in a banking environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Project Finance sector, various asset assessment tools, and FAB’s products and business strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the oil & gas, utilities, infrastructure etc. sectors.
  • Working knowledge and contacts in the syndicated loan & debt capital market as well as Sustainable Finance.
  • Understanding of Project Finance (PF) structures, typical participants, assessment tools, and knowledge of international PF markets, syndicated loan & debt capital markets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand financing structures based on current & expected market conditions.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong credit, structuring and LMA documentation expertise.
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to exercise good judgment which balances needs of client, investors and FAB.
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements as well as financial modelling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to build and develop strategic relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure, and execute Project Finance transactions in the US for FAB clients globally across the IB and CCB segments, delivering a revenue target contribution to the overall LCM & SF/GCF budget across sectors like Oil & Gas, Power, Utilities, Infrastructure, alternate energies, and telecommunication.
  • Contribute to the Americas Project Finance Business Strategy, sharing industry knowledge and market trends, and supporting the Global Project Finance strategy.
  • Proactively contribute to the Sustainability agenda by structuring PF transactions as ESG (Green/Social/Sustainability linked) Financing, ensuring compliance with FAB’s ESG policies and Equator Principles.
  • Advise and structure bespoke/tailor-made financing solutions to meet client needs and lead negotiations on key commercial and legal terms.
  • Undertake US PF advisory mandates selectively for strategic reasons for key FAB clients.
  • Prepare green light memos, credit memos, specialized project waivers, and amendment requests, engaging with Credit to obtain approvals, including analyzing project agreements, due diligence reports, and financial models with sensitivities/projections.
  • Prepare financing pitch books, term sheets, information memorandum, financial models, mandate letters, and review feasibility reports, financial statements, and financial, legal, and technical due diligence reports.
  • Review, negotiate, and conclude financing and security documentation in coordination with legal counsels (lender's and borrower's) and in-house lawyers, ensuring compliance with credit-approved terms.
  • Cross-sell other FAB products and services (e.g., Agency, DCM, interest rate and currency swaps, account bank role) as part of the PF loan offering.
  • Identify opportunities within the existing PF loan book through refinance and restructuring.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of relevant transactions for deal/house awards, League Table submissions, and deal highlights/case studies for internal circulation.
  • Contribute to the sub-departmental budget and inform the Global Head of Loan Capital Markets & Sustainable Finance about performance gaps with suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain strong internal relations and collaborate with Coverage partners to maximize product development and revenue generation opportunities.
  • Build and develop strategic relationships with Credit and proactively engage with them to achieve positive decisions on proposed transactions.
  • Assist with the implementation of departmental policies, systems, and procedures to fulfill procedural/legislative requirements and deliver quality service.
  • Provide inputs for timely and accurate sub-departmental statements and reports to meet FAB’s and departmental requirements, policies, and standards.
