Epic GamesCary, NC
$219,811 - $322,389Remote

About The Position

Epic's production teams are responsible for driving a vision from start to finish and collaborating with teams to inspire and deliver projects of Epic quality. As the Director, Production, you will own the end-to-end strategy for delivering in-game cosmetic content across our portfolio of titles. This role directly impacts Epic's financial performance by ensuring content ships on time and at the quality bar that drives player engagement and purchase. The art production team reports directly to this role, and this leader serves as the primary advocate for art producers at Epic and the critical connection point between Art and Art Production. Partnering closely with the Sr. Director, Art, you will co-own strategy, maintain and optimize scalable production pipelines, and ensure the right requirements, budgets, approval workflows, and talent structures are in place to meet aggressive launch and post-launch targets.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of production experience, including significant time in a leadership role managing large-scale art content pipelines in games, film, or entertainment
  • Proven ability to lead production teams through ambiguity, competing priorities, and high-pressure release cycles
  • Deep familiarity with dependency-driven production pipelines, asset tracking systems, and project management tools (e.g., Flow/Shotgrid, Jira or equivalent).
  • Comfortable with emerging technologies and new workflows
  • Strong executive communication skills — comfortable presenting risks and tradeoffs to senior leadership and driving alignment across functions.
  • Comfortable with budgets and cost projections.
  • Experience managing external outsource relationships and vendor workflows
  • Track record of building collaborative partnerships across art, vendor management, programming, product, and business stakeholders
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational discipline; able to manage complex, multi-threaded workstreams without losing sight of the details that determine success or failure
  • Strategic thinker who can connect production decisions to business outcomes, balancing near-term delivery needs with long-term scalability and revenue impact
  • Flexible skillset with the ability to operate in different production environments

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve the existing cosmetics production pipeline and art production suite of tools, ensuring reliable, on-time delivery of art assets across multiple titles.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to boost efficiency, close process gaps, and evolve practices to meet the demands of both launch and live-service commitments.
  • Own cross-functional project planning — including schedules, roadmaps, and milestone tracking — with clear visibility into dependencies across art, programming, product, and partner teams.
  • Lead tradeoff discussions with executive and functional leadership when scope, timeline, or resources are in conflict.
  • Lead capacity planning for the art organization, including internal teams and external outsource partners.
  • Quantify staffing risks across concurrent projects and develop mitigation strategies to keep cosmetics production on schedule.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director, Art on all executive-facing communication, including project status, risks, budget, and delivery forecasts.
  • Establish a framework for evaluating cosmetics performance post-launch to inform future content strategy and resourcing decisions.
  • Champion operational excellence across the art production org — identifying and sharing best practices, tooling improvements, and process efficiencies that scale beyond individual projects.
  • Actively mentor art producers.
  • Lead and champion the art production team, which reports directly to this role.
  • Serve as their primary advocate at Epic — building clear paths for growth, holding a high bar for excellence, and cultivating a culture where producers are empowered and valued.
  • Act as the bridge between Art and Art Production, fostering the trust and collaboration needed for both organizations to thrive.

Benefits

  • generous benefit plans
  • discretionary incentive programs
