About The Position

Flex is hiring a Director to join our Product & Regulatory Legal team. This role leads cross-functional legal projects with company wide impact — partnering directly with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Finance, and BD to shape how Flex navigates a complex and evolving consumer financial regulatory landscape. You’ll drive multiple strategic decisions simultaneously and own significant portions of the legal function roadmap.

Requirements

7+ years of legal experience with deep consumer financial services expertise — fintech, bank, CFPB/state agency, or outside counsel in this space
Strong grasp of the consumer financial regulatory stack: CFPB rulemaking, Reg Z/TILA, UDAP/UDAAP, money transmission, state licensing (servicing, brokering)
Proven track record advising product and engineering teams directly and influencing decisions at the senior leadership level
Experience leading complex, cross-functional legal projects with significant company-wide impact
Comfortable operating fast and with incomplete information — gives useful guidance before all the facts are in
Clear, plain-English communicator; no one at Flex reads memos
JD from an accredited law school; active bar admission required

Responsibilities

Lead cross-functional legal projects from intake to resolution — setting strategy, driving decisions, and coordinating across teams
Serve as the senior legal partner for product and engineering, providing real-time guidance on new features, product enhancements, and go-to-market strategy
Own regulatory change management end-to-end: monitor federal and state developments (CFPB, state AGs, state legislatures), assess business impact, and recommend a path forward
Advise senior leaders on consumer regulatory risk, enforcement trends, and litigation exposure across Flex’s product lines
Review and negotiate BD and partner agreements for consumer regulatory risk
Identify opportunities to integrate new legal tools and workflows; coordinate with IT and Security to expand legal tech infrastructure
Own the legal AI governance framework — define acceptable use standards, output review protocols, and escalation criteria; represent Legal in cross-functional AI working groups
