About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director – Product Management to join the Audio Video Division in Minnetonka, MN. The Director of Product Management leads a key product management organization within Legrand AV’s Display Infrastructure Product Group and is responsible for developing and executing long-term portfolio strategies that drive revenue growth, strong market position, and profitability. This role leads a high performing team of product managers and aligns portfolio investments and product roadmaps with the company's long-term strategic and financial objectives. Success requires balancing portfolio vision with execution while driving growth, profitability, and market leadership.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success developing and executing portfolio strategies that drive growth, competitive advantage, and long-term business value.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience evaluating portfolio performance, investment decisions, pricing strategies, business cases, profitability, and return on innovation investments.
  • Proven ability to translate corporate growth objectives into product portfolio strategies, roadmap priorities, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing teams of product managers, including building organizational capability, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Experience establishing accountability through performance metrics, portfolio reviews, and disciplined product management processes.
  • Thorough understanding of product lifecycle management, portfolio optimization, new product development, commercialization, and innovation management.
  • Strong market assessment capabilities, including customer segmentation, competitive analysis, market sizing, growth opportunity evaluation, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate complex business issues and strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to make sound business decisions in ambiguous environments using data, financial analysis, customer insights, and strategic judgment.
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic planning with execution against annual business objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business intelligence tools required for portfolio analysis and business planning.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in product management, portfolio management, product marketing, business development, or related commercial leadership roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct people leadership experience, preferably leading product managers.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or influencing portfolio-level business performance, including revenue growth, profitability, innovation investment, and strategic planning.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional organizations through product strategy, portfolio prioritization, and commercialization decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve a 4-5 year portfolio strategy aligned with corporate growth and innovation objectives.
  • Translate company financial goals into category strategies, product roadmaps, and investment priorities that deliver measurable business results.
  • Lead portfolio investment decisions, balancing short-term business performance with long-term growth opportunities.
  • Identify and evaluate new markets, adjacent growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, and acquisition opportunities that support business objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership regarding portfolio direction, competitive threats, market opportunities, and resource allocation.
  • Own the business performance of the product portfolio, including revenue growth, profitability, market share, product vitality, and return on innovation investments.
  • Ensure product managers understand and are accountable for the financial performance and strategic contribution of their product categories.
  • Lead portfolio reviews and performance management processes that connect product management activities to business outcomes.
  • Lead portfolio optimization through lifecycle management, pricing strategy, product rationalization, and investment prioritization.
  • Ensure major roadmap initiatives are supported by sound business cases, customer validation, and measurable success criteria.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of product managers accountable for portfolio success.
  • Establish clear expectations, competencies, and standards for product management excellence across the organization.
  • Guide the development and execution of category strategies and integrated product roadmaps.

  • Ensure the organization maintains a thorough understanding of customer needs, market trends, channel dynamics, and competitive landscapes.

  • Promote data-driven decision-making through effective use of market, customer, competitive, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure product management insights are proactively incorporated into portfolio and business strategy.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Experience leaders to align portfolio priorities and growth initiatives.
  • Ensure the sales organization is equipped with effective value propositions, portfolio positioning, pricing strategies, and competitive differentiation.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop commercialization strategies and launch plans that maximize market adoption and business impact.
  • Support strategic customer engagements, key channel relationships, and major business opportunities as needed.
  • Represent the company with customers, industry organizations, channel partners, and market influencers.
  • Establish and continuously improve product management processes, governance, and operating mechanisms that support effective decision-making and execution.
  • Build organizational capability through talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, leadership development, succession planning, and employee development.
  • Promote operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness, simplify processes, reduce costs, and create business value.
