About The Position

Vertafore is seeking an innovative, technically savvy product leader with strong insurance, finance, or enterprise software experience, preferably with deep expertise in benefits insurance. This role will focus on delivering transformational new solutions for the insurance agency market and will lead Vertafore’s workflow and cross-product strategy. The Director of Product Management will own the vision and direction for Vertafore’s enterprise product BenefitPoint, a leader in technology for insurance brokerages. Responsibilities include understanding existing workflows, identifying opportunities for enhancement, improving end-user experience and product efficiency, particularly in benefits-focused use cases like quoting, enrollment, policy management, and client servicing. The role involves defining problems, aligning development teams, and maintaining a backlog aligned with the roadmap. Collaboration with Go-To-Market and Product Operations teams for successful launches is expected. Objectives are tied to business metrics such as retention, adoption, and customer satisfaction. The individual will serve as an evangelist for the product, communicating its positioning, benefits, and value to sales, marketing, and key customers.

Requirements

  • Ability to develop and execute a successful product roadmap with a proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Strong background in benefits insurance (e.g., employee benefits, group health, ancillary lines) highly preferred
  • Experience working in or closely with benefits-focused agencies, brokers, or platforms is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with benefits administration/CRM platforms is a strong plus
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence decisions in a matrix environment, including senior level leaders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Successful history of delivering customer-driven products designed to create a great customer experience
  • Experience in software and/or technology product management is strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • MBA and/or Pragmatic Marketing training a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic product thinker while driving and implementing the product roadmap for workflows across our products, with a strong lens on benefits insurance workflows and customer needs
  • Bring to market revenue generating, customer-driven software products while managing the entire product lifecycle from strategy to execution
  • Identify market opportunities through customer research and insights, including trends and needs specific to the employee benefits space
  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
  • Inform product decisions with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Lead, create, and launch market-leading product offerings in partnership with other groups such as sales, marketing and engineering
  • Recommend pricing strategy and understand competitive positioning for our product offering
  • Develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute
