About The Position

D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., was founded in 1978 and is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. It is engaged in the construction and sale of high-quality homes designed principally for the entry-level and first time move-up markets. The Company also provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers through its mortgage and title subsidiaries. D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Director of Process Improvement. The right candidate will review current practices and procedures in all departments within the division, in pursuit of opportunities for enhancing organizational efficiency and effectiveness, cost reduction and general division performance enhancement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 10 years of related professional experience; OR a high school diploma or GED with at least 12 years of directly relevant experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions
  • Experience leading and motivating teams, fostering collaboration, and driving change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders
  • Experience managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring
  • Ability to drive and manage change within an organization, helping employees adapt to new processes
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for process analysis and improvement.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision

Responsibilities

  • Review practices and procedures in all aspects of division functions
  • Become knowledgeable with current business operational practices and procedures by immersing in the departments daily functions and practices
  • Identify relationships between departments by developing an understanding of how the division works by learning how changes in one department may impact other parts of the business
  • Develop and implement process improvement strategies that align with the organization's overall goals and objectives
  • Provide periodic reports to the division leadership team and Division President with proposed performance enhancements opportunities and recommendations
  • Help division achieve optimal financial success by identifying places where division could limit costs without sacrificing quality
  • Refine division processes that enable employees to use their time wisely and avoid repetitive or tedious tasks. Increase productivity and morale while limiting employee burnout and turnover
  • Model potential outcomes for system changes before implementing system changes to predict the results of those changes
  • Track performance and analyze results to ensure process improvements are effective and sustainable
  • Effectively communicate with department heads, building consensus for process changes
  • Train team members on any changes in best practices or workflows
  • Travel to projects under construction
  • Interact with the front line supervisors and managers
  • Research new equipment and techniques to help the division stay modern and current by finding new technology and techniques to incorporate into the business
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight
