About The Position

The Director of Process Improvement & Organizational Design (AI‑Enabled) leads enterprise‑wide efforts to improve how work is designed, governed, and delivered through the responsible use of artificial intelligence, process improvement methodologies, and organizational design principles. This role blends process engineering, AI‑enabled analysis, workforce impact assessment, and change management to ensure AI technologies are deployed effectively, ethically, and with clear visibility into their impact on workflows, staffing levels, and organizational structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Seven plus (7+) years of experience in process improvement, org design, or operational excellence.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, BPM, or service design.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and analytics tools
  • Advanced knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including Lean, Six Sigma, Business Process Management (BPM), service design, and systems thinking.
  • Knowledge of organizational design and operating model frameworks, including role clarity, decision rights, governance, and service delivery models.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts (e.g., automation, machine learning, generative AI) as applied to business process improvement and decision support.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and the organizational impacts of large‑scale operational transformation.
  • Understanding of governance, risk management, and ethical considerations related to AI‑enabled solutions.
  • Ability to analyze complex, cross‑functional processes and design future‑state workflows that improve efficiency, quality, and accountability.
  • Skill in leveraging AI‑enabled tools to support process documentation, analysis, synthesis, and insight generation while applying appropriate human judgment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to assess feasibility, ROI, risks, and operational impact of proposed solutions.
  • Ability to develop clear, data‑driven recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead workshops, process mapping sessions, and cross‑functional working groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex concepts for executive and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to lead enterprise‑wide initiatives in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and evolving institutional needs.
  • Ability to ensure AI‑enabled work remains aligned with organizational values, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design, and continuous improvement of end‑to‑end business processes across the organization.
  • Design organizational and operating models aligned to strategy.
  • Leverage AI tools for process documentation, analysis, and optimization with appropriate human validation.
  • Establish process governance, standards, and performance metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through pilot programs, testing cycles, and phased rollouts of AI solutions/change efforts.
  • Evaluate ROI, risk, and operational impact of AI‑enabled solutions.
  • Model staffing, role evolution, and skill requirements.
  • Partner with HR and leaders on workforce planning, upskilling, and reskilling.
  • Develop training materials and support documentation to help employees adapt to new tools and workflows.
  • Measure performance before and after AI deployment.
  • Build dashboards and reports to communicate insights to leadership.
  • Track KPIs related to efficiency, quality, cost, and workforce impact.
  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.
  • Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.
  • Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
