Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Seven years research financial management experience in a university or similar setting.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as liaison with a variety of university departments, agencies and professional groups to keep abreast of current developments and to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Oversees preparation of grant documents to ensure compliance with regulations specified by each agency.
  • Develops and directs the implementation of administrative procedures and recommendations affecting the Grant and Contract program and advises campus-wide departments and faculty of potential problems (over and under spending funds) and provides recommendations for corrective action.
  • Oversees preparation of grant setup and grant documents to ensure compliance with regulations specified by each agency/award.
  • Oversees the payroll and accounts receivable functions of post-award accounting.
  • Coordinates activities with internal and external auditors, including sponsor related reviews.
  • Develops long-range goals and compiles reports necessary for planning, directing and reporting program activity.
  • Maintains current advanced knowledge of GAAP, GASB, FASB, IRS regulations, OMB Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and principles of cost accounting standards, including allowability, allocability, and reasonableness, state, local, sponsor, and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Must have knowledge of intellectual property policy and publication rights, conflict of interest requirements, application of indirect cost rates, and other complex concepts in sponsored research.
  • Supervises professional staff in administering various financial components of the award and formulates and administers annual budgets for the department.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and policies for all aspects of the research administration.
  • Effectively review procedures for on-going continuous improvement to efficiently facilitate research collaborations and activities.
  • Assist with establishing/deploying campus training for central research staff, grants coordinators, business officers, and researchers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
