About The Position

Your Role The Stellarus Commercial team builds the products to power Healthcare Payors through modern technology and AI. The Director of Platform Engineering and Tools will report to the VP, Platform Operations. In this role you will partner closely with our Application, Data, and AI teams to establish a technical foundation that accelerates the delivery of our products. This role is a key aspect of our ability to accelerate the changes needed in healthcare. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS, or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 10 years prior relevant experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform
  • 6 years of prior people management experience with direct responsibility for supervising, coaching, and evaluating direct reports
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations through DevSecOps and cloud transformation, including hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tooling, GitOps workflows, and modern release practices
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), infrastructure automation, multi-cluster environments with an understanding of multi-tenancy and security
  • Track record of cross-functional influence, translating technical strategy into business value for non-technical stakeholders and building trusted relationships with senior leadership
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, with a bias for action, structured thinking, and the ability to drive alignment across competing priorities

  • 6 years leading technical teams — including at least 5 years managing multiple concurrent teams across diverse disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain a high-performance engineering culture rooted in empowerment, ownership, and continuous improvement, championing transformation at both the team and organizational level
  • Lead and grow distributed technical teams across platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and DevSecOps disciplines, fostering an environment where engineers can do their best work
  • Partner closely with senior leadership across Product, Product pricing, IT, and Security to align engineering strategy with business priorities, influencing roadmaps and organizational direction at the executive level
  • Drive the organization's DevSecOps evolution, modernizing application delivery pipelines using CI/CD, GitOps, and shift-left security practices, embedding a product mindset across engineering teams
  • Serve as an internal technology advocate, identifying emerging trends, evaluating their business impact, and partnering with architecture teams to champion adoption across the enterprise
  • Establish and maintain healthy engineering lifecycles across all areas of ownership, ensuring platforms remain current, secure, and fit for purpose
  • Establish an Enterprise Tools team that builds and supports tools such as Linear, Notion, and our ITSM suite that is to be determined
