About The Position

The Director, Plant Facilities, is responsible for the management and supervision of hospital maintenance, environmental, biomedical and security services, including the maintenance of all buildings, structures, grounds and supporting equipment. Directs and manages the housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly and attractive conditions of the organization's property. Ensures productivity and financial goals are met. Duties include oversight of work assignments, attendance and performance evaluations of assigned employees. Compiles data for cost reporting.

Requirements

  • 4 years of related work experience in the maintenance-engineering field, with understanding and knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, plumbing, steam, refrigeration, H.V.A.C., medical gas systems, emergency generator and related equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field of study, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight of facilities
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance and inspections with outside vendors as required by the Joint Commission, SHC policy and/or other professional standards.
  • Perform and/or direct preventative maintenance and urgent, corrective and routine repairs in electrical, mechanical, refrigeration and H.V.A.C equipment with particular attention to systems related to life safety.
  • Oversee the timely completion and tracking of the work orders database and all hospital card and key access.
  • Oversee the requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment associated with the hospital.
  • Advance and maintain subject matter knowledge of facilities management through professional development, training and collaboration with regional and home office staff.
  • Provide oversight and performance monitoring for the security services. Implement process improvement procedures when necessary.

  • Manage departmental staff by ensuring adequate numbers and type of staff necessary to provide a safe environment. Assign and supervise duties based on need and employee skills.
  • Administer performance evaluations in an honest and timely manner. Manage performance in a reliable, timely manner through recognition, counseling and disciplinary action by providing feedback that is respectful and constructive.
  • Manage time and attendance of assigned staff in accordance with policies and federal and state regulations; Maintain timely and accurate records and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Hire, promote and manage employees in a manner that demonstrates understanding of employment principles based on FMLA,FLSA, ADAAA and Title VII regulations.
  • Develop, communicate and monitor performance expectations for departmental staff.
  • Identify educational needs of departmental staff and implement training as needed.
  • Consistently engages in active listening and regard for concerns and take constructive action to resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop departmental protocols, policies, procedures and plans. Maintain knowledge of current practice and ensure that protocols, policies and procedures are updated in accordance with evidence-based practice.
  • Plan, develop and communicate improvements to the department's operational and annual goals.
  • Create an environment where customer service and patient satisfaction are priorities.
  • Promote decisions that are patient and family-centered.
  • Manage financial resources. Support department budget by overseeing all purchases and expenditures. Identify opportunities to improve the use of departmental resources.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with leadership, medical staff, peers, and hospital staff.
  • Actively supports all department and hospital policies.
  • Actively supports patient safety initiatives. Responds and acts on safety recommendations.
