About The Position
Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director, Patient Care Services – Obstetrics at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. We are seeking a transformational leader to successfully lead and foster strategic growth in the following areas: Obstetrics, Respiratory, Care Coordination, Staffing Office and Bed Control. Reporting to the Executive Director & Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, you will be a strategic partner in setting goals and objectives for the program. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, and optimize financial performance while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. This position is based at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois.
Requirements
- Master’s degree required, (MSN, MBA, or MHA).
- Current RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience which must include leadership experience with operational and budgetary responsibility in a hospital/ healthcare environment.
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital.
- Strong knowledge of financial performance measurement and budgeting required.
- Able to navigate effectively with high-level internal and external contacts.
- Understanding of regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, Medicaid, Illinois Department of Public Health requirements and Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organization standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a notable record of accomplishments.

- Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional staff, guiding organizational change towards consistently following a nursing professional practice model.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations and implement procedures to ensure the provision of high-quality care and services to patients.
- Coordinate with senior management and managers/ supervisors to ensure operational problems are resolved.
- Analyze and recommend changes in organizational systems, policies and procedures.
- Monitor quality metrics and implement process improvement plans when needed.
- Understand and implement effective human resource management strategies.
- Assume accountability for fiscal/budgetary considerations, including expense management (staffing, recruitment, retention), revenue enhancement and business development.
- Prepare annual budget for approval.
- Monitor patient admissions, transfers, discharges and census balancing and facilitate patient throughput.
- Assure that service lines operate within all federal and state and regulatory body/agency guidelines.
- Maintain an ongoing public relations program to increase community understanding, improve relations with physicians and other health care clinicians.
- Implement and maintain recordkeeping systems, statistical reporting systems, program documentation, planning, and evaluation.
- Provide leadership in the development of objectives, standards of care, policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
