About The Position

Birdseye is seeking a Director or VP of Engineering to own its core platform end-to-end. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong technical background and a proven ability to drive innovation in a product-focused business. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AI-native development, experience building and operating scalable platforms, and the ability to influence architectural decisions that will shape the company's future for the next decade. This is a hands-on role for someone who has a clear point of view on what visionary work looks like and is ready to push boundaries to bring that vision to life.

Requirements

• Developer first, engineering manager second, director or VP third.
• Technical credibility before management credibility.
• AI-native, not AI-curious.
• Experience as a leader who has changed how a team writes, reviews, and ships code.
• Experience in a product business with recurring revenue and customers who can leave.
• Hands-on credibility; must have opened a pull request within the last five years.
• Experience building and operating a real platform.
• Ability to push hard against inertia and drive a vision.

• Strong preference for the leader to be located in the Greater Toronto Area.
