Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. We are currently seeking an experienced quality professional for our Operation Quality Director position. The selected candidate will work in Tucson, Arizona supporting the Effectors portfolio with factories located in Tucson AZ, Huntsville AL, Camden AR, and Farmington NM. Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of Quality or Engineering experience in either the DOD industry or automotive industry.
  • Previous experience of developing a strong working relationship with local DMCA and MDA representatives, or equivalent, through open, honest, and frequent communication concerning pertinent issues and activities within the factories.
  • Experience in identifying and presenting complex issues into succinct, cohesive summaries and presentations to support executive briefings.
  • Experience driving performance of key production metrics (CoPQ, FPY, DPU, Escapes and Off router etc.) against established goals, including ensuring timely root cause corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Previous experience reporting out critical factory issues with cross functional teams and senior management utilizing facts and data and providing solutions.
  • Previous people management experience to include recruitment, mentoring, and recognition to staff based upon achieving results.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Advanced Degree preferred.
  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certification.
  • Understanding of Toyota or Automotive Industry Quality Management principles
  • Experience leading geographically distributed factories and teams within the U.S.
  • Experience in other functional areas such as engineering, supplier engineering, or program management.
  • Working experience in solving both business and technical problems.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of contract flow and compliance.
  • Works well with cross-functional teams at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Factory Quality managers across multiple states.
  • Responsible for reducing defects, decreasing cost of poor quality, and supporting increased throughput in each factory.
  • Implement tools such as Lean, Statistical Process Control, APQP & PPAP
  • Establish effective relationships with internal and external customers with the ability to manage and influence across multiple levels of stakeholders.
  • Adapt the structure and focus of the organization to align with new or changing business goals and direction in pursuit of RTX's CORE strategies and culture.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in driving resolution of major program interruptions which impact the factories’ ability to achieve cost, quality, and/or schedule commitments.
  • Identify and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives for processes and command media using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation skills.
  • Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to establish and implement mid- and long-term operating strategies that deliver high impact business results.
  • Focusing on quality, cost and schedule performance, early engagement, influencing and providing differentiating quality value to program and factory teams.
  • Recruit, mentor and coach team to develop a capable, competent, and flexible quality engineering organization in support of the factory needs.
  • Responsible for effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Review and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) activities for systemic issues and to ensure extensive RCCA.
