About The Position

The Director, Offsite Energy Investments leads the development and execution of Walmart’s global renewable energy origination strategy, securing long-term partnerships and power purchase agreements to enable affordable clean energy and strengthen the grid. This role drives capital deployment into offsite renewable projects that deliver economic value and emissions reductions while managing a high-performing team. The position requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory engagement, to support sustainable energy initiatives. Strong leadership and strategic management skills are essential to optimize investment opportunities and contribute to Walmart’s commitment to renewable energy and environmental stewardship. The Offsite Energy Investment Team focuses on utility-scale, grid-connected clean energy partnerships and investments. By collaborating with developers, utilities, policymakers, and internal partners, the team drives projects that enhance grid resilience, increase clean capacity, and manage long-term energy costs. Emphasizing strategic partnerships, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making, this team supports sustainable energy solutions that deliver value to the business and the communities served.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in negotiating and executing long-term renewable energy agreements and strategic partnerships.
• Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
• In-depth knowledge of energy analysis and carbon footprint reduction strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement project management plans aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
• Excellent communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory and policy environments.
• Ability to drive business strategies that balance economic value with environmental impact.
• Experience collaborating across functions to advance decarbonization and renewable energy initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or related field OR 7 years' experience in Finance, Business or related area.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in the renewable energy industry

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of experience in the energy industry leading teams focused on origination, development, and/or capital formation for renewable energy projects.
• Demonstrable track record of commercializing or executing investments in renewable energy projects and/or securing partnerships in support of such activities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience operating in a large, global organization.
• In-depth understanding of both competitive and regulated energy markets.
• Master's degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
