About The Position

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) is seeking a Director of Workforce and Career Development. This full-time, 12-month position provides leadership, strategic guidance, and operational oversight for Professional Skills Training, Customized Training for Employers, and career development services. The Director serves as a primary liaison to regional employers, industry partners, and community organizations to drive regional economic growth. This role involves managing offerings such as Customized Training for Employers and specialized initiatives like Firefighter Rookie School, in coordination with academic deans. Additionally, the Director leads data collection and reporting for Professional Skills Training, directs student career counseling and job placement initiatives, and oversees employer engagement strategies. The position also involves leading comprehensive career guidance initiatives, including administering career assessments and advising students on career paths, and directing employer-student connections through various recruitment and engagement methods. As a member of the UACCB community, the employee is responsible for advancing the Caring Campus culture to enhance student connection and success.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Higher Education, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in workforce development, professional skills training, career services, or business outreach.
Demonstrated experience developing community partnerships, managing program data/reporting, and supervising staff or instructors.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and learning/career software platforms.
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Higher Education, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
Experience working within a community college setting.
Experience coordinating workforce programs in conjunction with academic divisions.
Proven track record in securing grant funding or workforce development state funds.
Experience creating customized training for employers and inter-agency agreements.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, strategic guidance, and operational oversight for Professional Skills Training, Customized Training for Employers, and career development services.
Serve as a primary liaison to regional employers, industry partners, and community organizations to drive regional economic growth.
Manage offerings such as Customized Training for Employers and specialized initiatives, like Firefighter Rookie School, in coordination with academic deans.
Lead data collection and reporting for Professional Skills Training.
Direct student career counseling and job placement initiatives.
Oversee employer engagement strategies.
Lead comprehensive career guidance initiatives, including administering career assessments and advising students on career paths.
Direct employer-student connections via on-campus recruitment, job fairs, industry visits, and digital job platforms.
Actively engage regional industry partners, chambers of commerce, and economic development boards to identify workforce trends and implement Customized Training for Employers.
Develop external partnerships, secure funding opportunities, build MOUs, and deliver public presentations promoting UACCB programs.
Coordinate, design, and evaluate Professional Skills Training programs.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate instructional staff.
Adhere to the campus name badge policy, treat all visitors as guests, engage with the campus community by reviewing institutional communications, participating in campus events, and supporting a collaborative, positive workplace environment.
