About The Position

FP Movement is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Merchandise Planning, Wholesale based in our New York City showroom. This leader will oversee wholesale planning, financial forecasting, and commercial inventory strategy across our rapidly growing activewear business. Bridging macro financial strategy with operational execution, you will serve as a central leader across Sales, Finance, Credit, Operations, and Merchandising. You will optimize Open-to-Buy (OTB) and replenishment programs, mitigate financial risk, protect gross margins, and lead a high-performing planning team across an expansive account portfolio (department stores, specialty brick-and-mortar, digital partners, and international distributors).

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in Wholesale Merchandise Planning, Category Financial Analysis, or Inventory Operations in apparel (activewear/performance experience preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
  • Deep mastery of wholesale P&L dynamics, bottom-up 6-month financial planning, OTB management, margin allowances, and financial modeling.
  • Proven track record of aligning cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Operations) and managing credit/risk across major retail channels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage bottom-up budgets, 6-month financial plans, and monthly forecasts by store type and region.
  • Partner with Merchandising on OTB management, category demand, regular-price forecasting, and closeout strategies.
  • Work with Finance and the Controller to audit forecasts, reserves, markdowns, bad debt exposure, and long-range strategic initiatives.
  • Track daily shipping progress and Gross Sales Projection (GSP) to Net Sales conversion while monitoring channel profitability.
  • Proactively minimize Markdown Allowances (MDAs) and Returns to Vendor (RTVs); approve RTVs and credit memos; negotiate vendor terms to maximize margin.
  • Resolve order-picking, release, and supply chain system limitations through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partner with Credit Management to support all accounts, resolve credit holds, facilitate collections, and develop multi-divisional credit solutions.
  • Attend key market appointments, Top-to-Top meetings, and assortment reviews to align customer plans with financial goals.
  • Maintain continuous alignment with internal sales teams and independent rep networks across all territories.
