About The Position

Bluegrass Senior Living is hiring a dedicated Director of Wellness to join an exceptional team. This role requires a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky who understands what it takes to lead a team of top-level clinicians. The Director of Wellness ensures the delivery of quality nursing services tailored to meet the needs of each resident and assumes responsibilities of the Executive Director in their absence.

Requirements

  • Licensed practical nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky.
  • Completion of a Registered Nurse program.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to present information to management effectively.
  • Must be able to speak, understand and read the English language to the extent necessary to safely and properly care for residents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to organize, document, and implement detailed programs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Standing, sitting, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 75 pounds or more, bending, climbing, twisting upper body, walking, running, carrying, listening, talking, use of telephone, and exposure to medical equipment and persons with risk of illness.
  • Consistently use discretion and independent judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures coordination of nursing services, including implementing plans of care, evaluating care, and modifying plans and staff assignments based on resident needs and staffing.
  • Ensures proper assessment of prospective residents, including reviewing pre-admission data, interviewing residents and families, and screening for medical and psycho-social factors.
  • Monitors services provided on all shifts, evaluating regulatory compliance, reviewing records, and interviewing staff, residents, and families.
  • Ensures adequate investigation, documentation, notification/reporting, and resolution of incidents and issues.
  • Ensures the completion of in-service training and monitors programs for staff and new employee orientation.
  • Performs and assists in the performance of audits, including CQI audits and regulatory compliance rounds.
  • Chairs and/or actively participates in committees such as CQI, Behavior Management, Pharmaceutical, Safety, and Infection Control.
  • Regularly communicates with and works with the management team to manage department budget, financial needs, and resources.
  • Develops and implements staffing plans to meet direct care needs and recommends necessary nursing personnel.
  • Ensures 24-hour availability as nursing administration/designee by providing on-call access.
  • Participates and ensures adherence to proper safety procedures, including infection control, OSHA, and fire safety.
  • Ensures proper documentation is maintained in the clinical record, care plans, and investigations.
  • Performs quality assessment and assurance functions, including regulatory compliance rounds.
  • Assists with implementation of programs to gather and analyze data for trends and to institute actions to resolve problems promptly.
  • Assists in developing and updating nursing policies and procedures.
  • Participates with Executive Director in survey processes by instructing staff, reporting, being present during surveys, and directing responses.
  • Maintains and applies current skills and knowledge through continuing education and in-service programs.
  • Carries out responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations, and facility philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Directly supervises employees of the nursing department, including interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, and resolving problems.
  • Indirectly supervises other assistants as their job functions relate to resident care.
